To start the term we also welcome new students Alyza Rollinson, Ariana Higgot, Matthew Gee, Amirakyl Taha, Elliot Jones, and Kaylee Earl who have turned 5 and begun their learning at Hill. Welcome also to older students Ryleigh Whittaker, Kyan Hindmarsh and Ethan McKenzie who have joined us from other NZ schools or from overseas. POETRY CHAMPIONS Congratulations to Hill’s Year 3 and 4 champion poetry presenters. At the end of term competition, Year 3 winners were: 1: Elizabeth Morrison 2: Joseph De Maine 3: Farhaan Ali. Year 4. 1: Jack Shaw, 2: Nechita Mencarelli-Skelton, 3: Cian Cameron PTA MEETING NEXT WEEK The next PTA meeting is on Monday 27 July at at 7.30pm in the staffroom. VIRTUES ARE US The Virtues programme at Hill is part of our school culture and part of our integrated inquiry concept curriculum. This term we are revisiting two virtues listed as most important through community consultation. The first virtue is “Respect”. A definition used with children at school is “We are able to show respect when we: Speak courteously to everyone. Take special care of our own and other people’s belongings. Honour the rules of our family, class, school and country. Treat others as you want to be treated. This virtue is also an excellent link to our Pupils in Positive Playgrounds (Pipps) approach. Families are encouraged to talk about each virtue with children, and discuss what they mean to your family. SHORTS NEEDED

Winter is here and so is the

mud! Children who want to

play touch rugby, soccer and

general “chasey” games on the

school field need to wear shorts

or skorts and they may also

need a change of clothes to put

on afterwards.

MASS HAKA AT

ECOLIGHT NEXT

MONDAY 10AM

Next Monday, almost 200 of

our students are attending a

mass haka and waiata at

Ecolight Stadium starting at

10am. This event is being

arranged by Te Huarahi and Te

Kopu and over 2000 students

are expected to attend as well

as the Counties Steelers rugby

team. Families and whanau are

welcome to come along as

well.
