This year has been an eventful

year for the club. We havetaken several trips out of the

area and made many new

friends. One of the most

interesting things that

happened this year was

including classic cars and trucks

into the meet & greet events.

Our membership has been up

and down but thats okay

because we treat everyone thatcomes to our event as a friend.

So, whether you are a member

of this club or just one who

likes to come for the games and

have a relaxing Sunday morning

and afternoon with some pretty

great people, we at Rancho

welcome you and thank you for

coming on down for the event.

Another major change that

came about since the beginning

of this year is that we have

changed our events from every

month to every other month.

Our trophy classification was

welcomed by many cruisers and

every time someone wins we

take their picture and they

come out in the clubsnewsletter for the next event.

The games we play are still the

same and nothing has changed

except that the fan belts are a

little worn. Our club sponsors

have been very helpful in

making this club excel into

something more than just a

meet & reet club event.

This month Jim Dekoker is

sponsoring three trophies forthe July 6th event. On

Saturday October 11th we are

planning to be in the Walnut

Festival Parade and the

signup sheet will be

available today. As this year

comes to an end our final

M&Gs will be on September

7th and November 2nd 2008.

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy,despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to helpdrain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end.They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, theirinvolvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he wouldpass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could seeoutside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods wherehis world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color ofthe world outside.

DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN?All the girls had ugly gym uniforms?It took five minutes for the TV TO warm up?Nearly everyone's Mom was at home when the kids got home from school?When a quarter was a decent allowance?Your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces?

All your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done everyday and wore high heels?You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, all forfree, every time? And you didn't pay for air? And, you got trading stamps to boot?Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box?They threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed?When a 57 Chevy was everyone's dream car...to cruise, peel out, lay rubber. as well assummers filled with bike rides, baseball games, Hula Hoops, bowling and visits to thepool, and eating Kool-Aid powder with sugar?Didn't that feel good?

HAPPINESS CONTINUES FROM PAGE #3The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played

on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked armin arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline couldbe seen in the distance...As the man by the window described all this inexquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes

and imagine this picturesque scene.One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in hismind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptivewords. Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths onlyto find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully inhis sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take thebody away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he couldbe moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and

after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first

look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out thewindow besides the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse whatcould have compelled his deceased roommate who had described suchwonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see thewall. She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'

This WAS the first time our club RCPTCC has cruised toStateline. Clem & sandy were married on Saturday andwe had lots of fun. HOSPITAL MYSTERY!In a hospital's IntensiveCare Unit, patientsalways died in the samebed, on Sunday morning,at about 11:00 a.m.Regardless of theirmedical condition.This puzzled the doctorsand some even thought ithadsomething to do withthe supernatural.
