CONGRATULATIONS TO SAMANDA MILLS - NSW BUSHRANGERS HOCKEY TEAM ON TOUR IN SOUTH AFRICA. Samanda Mills (Year 10) recently toured South Africa with the NSW Bushrangers Hockey Team. She left Australia on the 1st July and visited Johannesburg, staying at the High Performance Centre at the University of Pretoria. The team then travelled to Durban, visiting the beaches and some students swam with the sharks. They visited Port Elizabeth and went to a Game Reserve, going on a Safari. They were lucky enough to see giraffes, elephants, monkeys, hippos, wart hogs, springboks, lions, cheetahs and many other animals. The hockey tournament was based in Cape Town and they played 7 games, coming 7th out of 20 teams. Of special note, the tournament recognised Nelson Mandela’s birthday by forming a huge human love heart with the competitors on the field. Samanda wrote “Whilst we were in Cape Town, we visited a settlement which was home to 30,000 residents as well as visiting their preschools, primary and secondary schools. This tour was a real eye opener and made me realise how lucky I really am. I want to thank everyone who made this trip possible and I have had many experiences
that have made life long memories”.
Well Done Sam on your participation and involvement in this great opportunity.

WE HAVE A NEITA TEACHER! The National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA) Foundation has congratulated our school on having a teacher nominated for an ASG Inspirational Teaching Award. Michael Linde was nominated by a member of our community and last week was presented with a NEiTA Certificate of Nomination. The purpose of these prestigious awards is to honour and recognise inspirational teachers, and highlight the work, not only of individual teachers throughout Australia and New Zealand, but also the team contribution of all teachers in every school and centre. Mr Linde is now eligible for consideration for a National Australian Scholarship Group Inspirational Teaching Award and grant. Mr Linde has been teaching at Molong Central School for nearly 9 years and in that time has contributed enormously to the school, taking on roles such as Relieving Assistant Principal & Information Technology Coordinator. He has an expert interest in teaching all children particularly children that have special needs. Congratulations Mr Linde, thank you to the nominator, and “well done” to all our teachers for doing such a great job.

T5 Our T5 Program is a Transition Program that allows Year 6 students from our feeder schools to attend at MCS each Wednesday afternoon for practical lessons. During Weeks 2, 3 and 4 of this Term, we have had 22 Year 6 students visit Molong Central School on a Wednesday afternoon. During this time, students from the Public Schools of Cudal, Euchareena, Manildra, Cumnock and Stuart Town have had a "hands on" approach in the preparation of a 5 Minute Mug Cake, Savoury Pinwheels and Apple Crumble. Mrs Regan and I have thoroughly enjoyed their eagerness and their fine display of manners. Thank you to these budding young chefs for sharing their culinary skills with us, at Molong Central School.

WESTERN ATHLETICS TRIALS
(BATHURST)
On Friday, 26th July I had the pleasure of taking 4 talented athletes to the Western Athletics Trials in Bathurst. Millah Allcorn (Yr 7), Shaun Paterson (Yr 10) and Alex Paterson all ran in the 100m sprint. They all ran to the best of their ability, however due to the competitive nature of the day did not place. Karla Pearson (Yr 8) ran exceptionally well in all of her events, placing 1st in the 200m final as well as the 800m final. Her outstanding efforts advance her straight through to the CHS State Athletics Championships, an achievement of which she should be extremely proud! I would like to congratulate Millah, Shaun, Alex and Karla on their great sportsmanship and positive attitude throughout the day. Well done to you all! Katrina Brown (PD/H/PE Teacher)

PSSA Boys Softball Gala Day Last Wednesday, 31st August, 12 boys represented our school in
the PSSA Softball Gala Day in Orange. The team consisted of
Addison Williams, Kaden Williams, Nic Rasmussen, Sam
Woodhouse, Leigh Brown, Pedro Oste, Charlie Huggett, Jack
Thomas, Brodie Johnston, Reid Cornelissens, Ian Dugmore
and Nathan Rapley.
With one team withdrawing from our pool, this meant we had
four games to play throughout the day. Our first game was
against Orange Public and is probably a game the boys will quickly
erase from their memories! OPS had some very big hitters,
which certainly kept us warm in the outfield, and an awesome
pitcher which we found difficult to get bat onto ball. Needless
to say, we lost convincingly!
Our second game was against Bathurst Small Schools...this we
won, but only just, 11–10. The ball seemed to be like a hot potato
which we gladly passed around or dropped.
After a quiet word in their ears about a ‘not so good, you can do
better’ performance, the boys rose to the occasion against
another very well drilled team, Bletchington. The score line was
very one sided (not our way), but this game was full of
excitement as we caught many fly balls and even made a double
play (two people out off one pitch). Nerves were high as we
threw the ball from base to base while they played cat and
mouse with us and laughter could be heard from both teams and
their supporters watching all of the above happen!
Our final game was against Parkes. This was the game where our
confidence grew as we began smashing the ball around the
diamond. The bench and supporters came alive when Brodie hit
our only home run for the day. We were extremely proud of
ourselves making a triple play (3 out from one pitch)!!! We won
this game 15 – 6.
A special thankyou to my wonderful scorers for the day; Mr &
Mrs Brown, Mrs Huggett and Mrs Woodhouse (who wasn’t
quite there for the whole day as a Pink concert took priority!!).
Also thanks to our fantastic supporters and parents who
assisted with transport. Without you, these days wouldn’t be a
success.
Lastly, thanks to my wonderful team. You were supportive,
helpful and always prepared to listen to advice and make every
effort to improve your softball skills. Congratulations, I’m
extremely proud to have coached you this year.
Mrs Michelle Mackenzie

Prizes will be on display in the Library. I would like to encourage both Primary & Secondary students to visit and view the displays that are presently being put together to celebrate this special week. There are now just 18 days until students are required to complete their entries for the 2013 Premier’s Reading Challenge. This will allow a week for Library staff to validate students’ records and check details before finalising students who qualify for a certificate at the end of the year. Many students are busy borrowing and I wish them every success with their efforts. Some students still have to enter their reading records urgently onto the PRC website. I have been using ‘Class Dojo’ as my reward program during Primary Library lessons. Some students are up to receiving Merit Awards presently and will be bringing them home this week. They do count towards their Assembly Awards so please keep them in a safe place with other Merit Awards they receive. They are white and feature a ‘Class Dojo’ image on them. Congratulations to all the students who have worked particularly well during lessons to achieve this level of success. Have a terrific week full of lots of reading, Mrs Hall
