Endangered Sounds Nature (3)The European otter :This animal was once declared extinct in Belgium, but recently some wereseen. It stays a very threatened species however, due to its habitat that isgetting smaller and smaller.The otter makes a very distinctive sound that very few people have heard,but once was so common in the woods of Belgium. 8. Endangered Sounds Nature (3)What can LF do to preserve the European otter?The Lapperre Foundation can preserve the otter with a rehabilitationprogram, combined with a reservation in the Ardennes. The LF then putsthe otters into the wild 9. Endangered Sounds Nature (4)The Barbastelle :The barbastelle makes a very distinctive noise when flapping its wings andusing its sonar. A sound that makes you think the forests are alive duringthe night.Unfortunately, this bat only lives in and near a special kind of trees. 10. Endangered Sounds Nature (4)What can LF do to preserve the Barbastelle?The Lapperre Foundation can plant different new trees to house thebarbastelle. It can also make artificial housing nests. 11. Endangered Sounds NatureThis is to be organized through Natuurpunt.be.Its the largest organization for preservation of nature in Belgium: 374employees/500 natural reserves/11 visitor centers/88.000 families paid amembership in 2011. 12. Endangered Sounds Music (1)The Carillon :The carillon is an old but beautiful instrument, nevertheless young peopledont think of learning it.If the world famous carillon school of Mechelen wants to survive, it needsto recruit new students each year. 13. Endangered Sounds Music (1)What can LF do to preserve the Carillon?The Lapperre Foundation donates a mobile carillon to the school.With this they can bring the art of carillon playing to the streets, andconvince people of its beauty. 14. Endangered Sounds Music (2)La Petite Bande :Because of the turn-down of the subsidies by Joke Schauvliege, theorchestra of La Petite Bande will cease to exist after 40 years . 15. Endangered Sounds Music (2)What can LF do to preserve La Petite Bande?The Lapperre Foundation will help organizing a benefit concert forLa Petite Bande. It will provide the location and will look after the costsof electricity and cleanup. That way the profits of the evening can be usedby La Petite Bande to continue its daily rehearsals. 16. Endangered Sounds Music (3)Old fashioned instruments :When kids are asked which instrument they want tolearn to play they choose Guitar, Drum or piano.But what about the horn, the harp, the bombardon, thetuba and the double contra-bas. 17. Endangered Sounds Music (5)Adolphe Sax & Cie :The saxophone is a Belgian invention, but unfortunately there are noBelgian saxophone companies left. Until now, because somebodyfounded a new Belgian saxophone company. 19. Endangered Sounds Music (5)What can LF do to preserve Adolphe Sax & Cie?Because the company just started up, the Adolphe Sax & Cie companystill makes all their saxophones in Taiwan. The Lapperre Foundation canhelp the company to realise their dream: to make the production line inBelgium. 20. Endangered Sounds City (1)Le Fiacre :In the centre of Lige, Le Fiacre hosts concerts, exhibitions and danceevenings. Unfortunately, it needs to close down due to noise nuisance. 21. Endangered Sounds City (1)What can LF do to preserve Le Fiacre?The Lapperre Foundation can combine two things. By sound insulating LeFiacre it preserves the hearing of inhabitants nearby. And because of thesound insulation, Le Fiacre can continue its cultural activities.This way, the Lapperre Foundation can preserve the hearing and thebeautiful sounds of the people of Lige. 22. Endangered Sounds City (2)Music Club N9 :The famous club in Eeklo has a history of a few decades. It housed jazzshows, then punk gigs during the eighties and nineties, and now it offers abroad variety of music for young and old. 23. Endangered Sounds City (2)What can LF do to preserve Music Club N9?Due to lack of funding since this year, N9 is in real threat of having to closeits doors. The Lapperre Foundation will help set up a yearly benefit festivalto have their costs covered. That way people in and around Eeklo cankeep enjoying cultural activities. 24. Endangered Sounds City (3)CMB vzw :There are very few instrument building centres in the world. In Puurs, CMBvzw is one that specialises in guitars and violins. As a vzw they areconstantly looking for funding to continue their work and school. 25. Endangered Sounds City (3)What can LF do to preserve CMB vzw?The Lapperre Foundation can donate the raw materials that are used tomake guitars, making the costs for the students less.
