Blain Hilbig, current vice principal of Kerrobert Composite School has accepted the school’s open ad- ministration position for the coming 2014-2015 school year. The administration position is being vacated by teacher and coach Danny Jewitt who has announced he is departing from the school at the end of the 2013- 2014 school year after four years to take a more active parenting role with his two younger children while also pursuing a number of different creative projects. Stepping into Jewitt’s role is Hilbig who, in addi- tion to being a school administrator is also a coach and teacher. At Kerrobert Composite School, where Hilbig has been working for the last year, the instructor has been teaching Grade 8 Math and Science while he was also the primary instructor for the school’s Hockey Canada Skills Academy which ran in the fall. “I really enjoyed the hockey,” said Hilbig. “I thought it was a really great experience for myself and the students.” Hilbig is transitioning from Kerrobert to Kindersley in order to be closer to his family. He and his family reside in Kindersley so he has been commuting to and from Kerrobert each day. “It will just be nice to be there with them,” said Hilbig. The Hilbig family moved to Kindersley last year from Turtleford, Sask. where Hilbig was principal of Turtleford Community School. Prior to Turtleford, Hilbig was a vice principal in Edam, Sask. In the past his primary teaching areas have been math and physi- cal education in the middle years. The family moved to Kindersley after his wife was posted with the Kindersley RCMP. Since moving to the community last year, and though working in Kerrobert, Hilbig has already be- gan to immerse himself in the Kindersley community, coaching minor hockey and minor baseball while also participating on the board for the Kindersley Klip- pers. This year he will also be helping out with the Kindersley Kobras though he is unsure of the capacity. Hilbig has previous football experience, coaching the Spartan’s in Meadow Lake, Sask. He says he is looking forward to becoming apart of Kindersley Composite School, looking forward to work- ing with the staff and students starting this fall. “I’m excited to try and have a positive impact on the school,” he said. New vice principal for KCS Eaton students have talent Clockwise: Kenzie Punter and Kaylee Price sing a duet, accompanying themselves using only a cup during Eaton School’s “Eaton’s Got Talent 2014 Show” held May 29 in the school gym.
