NETWORKING INTERVIEW

This assignment has 2 parts:1. Your choice of person (choose someone in a related sports field to study)2. Assigned person (see Roster and Due Dates Spreadsheet for your assigned

person)** You will create a PowerPoint presentation containing a TOTAL of 10-20 slides.** Minimum time of presentation to class is 10 minutes and maximum time is 20 minutes. Any longer or shorter and points will be deducted.

***PowerPoint Presentations must be emailed to me by noon of due date so I can have loaded for class. Any later and you will have points deducted from your grade.

PART 1: YOUR CHOICE OF PERSON*** Email me choice of person ASAP. If nobody has chosen that person already, I will confirm this with you. First come, first serve! For this assignment you will present on a person who has a similiar position that you would one day want to have. For example, if you want to be the General Manager of the NY Rangers, you will be looking at a person like Glen Sather. In this day, there is so much information in journals and online about high level people in sports. The format will be that of an interview where you are providing information to us about what you found out about this person, their career path, advice, etc......

The purpose of this assignment is to learn more about WHAT you want to do in sports and HOW you can attain this level of professional success.

FOR THIS PART OF ASSIGNMENT- You will create a PowerPoint Presentation to present to class. - The presentation will include the answers to the following questions below.- The presentation will contain images and links to video. - Find some type of MEDIA about this person. Check Youtube and other online/offline video sources. Check podcast and radio archives that highlights this person. We will view part of the video and/or audio in class. This is a requirement, so make sure you choose someone that you can find some MEDIA on. The clip should be career/tips/advice focused. For example, if you are doing your presentation on Glen Sather, find an interview where he is talking aobut the coaching profession, his daily duties, etc......What I DONT want is just video of him at a post game press conference. I want more substance. - You will also be graded on the quality of presentation. Points will be deducted for too much reading from slides, so prepare and present to us.

PART 1 INFORMATION TO INCLUDE IN YOUR PRESENTATION:

Name of person you are interviewing and current position: Insert Image

1)Vitals: Birthday and where from?

Page 2: Networkinginterviewpresentationspm1006

2)Present Timeline of career from college to present.

3)Why did this person choose this career path?

4)What is the biggest challenge of the job?

5)What does an average day at work entail?

6)How many hours per week and how much travel does the job require?

7)Any advice from this person for someone looking to get into this area of sports?

From here you can shape the presentation how you wish. The purpose is to have us learn about what this person does and what it took for him to get where he is. Some questions to help guide you(not required, just some ideas on information to seek out).**** Please note, if you are unable to find this information, you can refer to any other information you find on someone in a particular field. For example, if you choose Glen Sather and cannot find how many hours he works a week, then you can possibly find another GM interview somewhere that the reveals this information. For example, Donnie Walsh is the GM of the Knicks and you found a quote that he works 60 hours a week. You could refer to this in your presentation.

PART 2: ASSIGNED PERSON
