Graphic Design for Political CampaignsThank you for taking the time to review samples of my graphic

design work for political campaigns. I have been in business as

Nelson Design since 1992, designing a wide variety of successful

print projects including advertising, magazines, catalogs, exhibits

and collateral.

This digital portfolio contains only a small collection of political

campaign pieces I have designed. I understand the unique

requirements of political design, including clear and impactful

communication, consistent branding of the message, and most

importantly, speedy and accurate turnaround at a reasonable price.

Please feel free to call or email me if you’d like to discuss how I can

contribute to your next campaign project.

LogosCandidate and issue logo designs are $300, and include up to three

unique designs and two rounds of revisions to the chosen design.

Turnaround is usually 1-to-2 business days, and final logos are

delivered in both color and black and white, as .eps, .pdf and .jpg files

for ease of use in any media.

I prefer to initially present two logo designs—often with alternate

color combinations on each—and then receive feedback before doing

the third and final design, should it be necessary. Below is a sample

of the way logo options would be presented. Finished logos for actual

campaigns are on the following pages.

Direct Mail& WalkpiecesDirect mail and walkpiece designs range from $150-$500 depending on size,

complexity and number of revisions. Turnaround is usually 1-to-2 business

days, however pieces can often be delivered the same day when necessary

to meet a tight mailing deadline.

The backbone of any successful campaign, printed message pieces need to

be clear and easy to read with consistent branding throughout the course

of the campaign. Most importantly from the designers’ standpoint, they

need to be accurate and

print-ready to avoid any

delays at the printer or

mailing house.

Creighton Understands How the System Works and is Best QualifiedJohn Creighton, an Alameda County District Attorney, and Victoria Kolakowski, an administrative law judge for the Public Utilities Commission, California the top two vote-getters in the June primary, will face off Nov. 2. Kolakowski is mounting a historic candidacy to become the first transgender judge. That she would bring diversity to the bench appears to be the cornerstone of Kolakowski’s campaign. Creighton is backed by about 80 percent of the county judges and is endorsed by Louis Goodman— the candidate who placed third. We endorse John Creighton for Alameda County Superior Court Judge.

Yes on Measure CAlameda’s unique quality of life

comes from its long history as a

family friendly place to live and work.

Our quality of life depends on having

a solid foundation of safety, and

good access to cultural and recreational opportunities.

Measure C is a local half-cent sales tax measure placed on the ballot

unanimously by the Alameda City Council. Our City has pressing needs. Measure

C will generate enough funds for a new aquatics complex, all-weather multi-

purpose athletic field, library improvements, and public safety.

Measure C gives Alameda residents local control. Every penny must be spent

on these projects and independent financial audits are required by law.

We urge a YES vote on Measure C for our kids, libraries, and public safety.

The City of Alameda Democratic Club EndorsesRob Bonta for State AssemblyRob Bonta is the Vice Mayor of the City of Alameda and an

Alameda County Transportation Commissioner.

Throughout his career in public service, Vice Mayor Bonta

has distinguished himself as a strong advocate for public

schools. He has fought for public safety, to foster economic

development, exercise fiscal responsibility, and improve

recreation opportunities for families.

Prior to being elected to the City Council, Rob was an

elected member of the Alameda Health Care District Board of Directors, where

he ensured that the hospital continued to provide critical, high quality health care

services.  He also served as the Chair of the Economic Development Commission,

where he focused on business attraction and business retention efforts.

Rob and his wife Mialisa live in Alameda with their three children.

“As your Councilmember,

I will value all Alamedans, their

safety and economic security, and do all

I can to preserve and enhance

Alameda’s unique quality of life.”

Rob Bonta – Fresh Ideas Educationz Fundamentally change the way California funds our public

education and end the state’s unfair and outdated formula that keeps Alameda the lowest funded school district in the county, as my family and I seek to do as plaintiffs in Robles Wong v. California.

z Create a permanent city office of education to work more closely with and in support of the school district.

z Involve all stakeholders, including the business community, from the very beginning in any new effort to pass a fair and equitable school parcel tax.

Alameda Pointz Require all private development partners

to agree in advance to implement our community’s vision for Alameda Point.

z Set stringent standards in advance to ensure that all private partners working with us at Alameda Point have the financial ability to get the job done.

z Ensure through strong leadership, close oversight, and accountability that our elected city council retains control over implementation of our community’s vision at Alameda Point.

Fiscal Responsibilityz Work in an atmosphere of mutual

trust and respect with labor unions through the good faith bargaining process to secure Alameda’s financial future.

z Achieve fiscal health through a combination of budget cuts and revenue generation resulting from robust business attraction and business retention efforts.

z Save money through a top-to-bottom review of city government, as we did as part of Alameda Hospital’s financial turnaround.

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSES

LONI HANCOCK fOR STATE SENATE, 9TH DISTRICT

Sandré Swanson has been an effective representative for our community. In the Assembly, he has been a tireless advocate for the health, safety, and education of our children and a leader in promoting legislation to help working families and secure increased job opportunities.

Sandré Swanson, along with Loni Hancock, was one of just two members of the State Assembly to oppose the Governor’s $500 million cut to health care and human services earlier this year. He is an effective legislator, with a 100% voting record from the Sierra Club, the California Labor Federation, and the California Congress of Seniors.

The Democratic Party proudly endorses Sandré Swanson for Assembly.

Loni Hancock has been a forceful advocate for open government and social justice. She cares about the community and has produced real results at the local, state and federal levels.

In the Assembly, Loni Hancock has an impressive record of delivering on California’s toughest challenges – funding our schools, protecting the environment and achieving universal heath care. She is leading the fight for real campaign finance reform. That’s why the Democratic Party strongly endorses Loni Hancock for Senate.
