MEMB453 NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING (NDT)

Assignments (Sem 1 Session 2015/16)

1. Visual Inspection (VI) is one of the most useful methods of NDT

used in many engineering works, but is still subjected to an inspector

error. Write an overview on how machine vision approaches can

minimize the inspector error and further enhance the VI results quality.

Assignments must be hand in by 23 Dec 2015

2. Evaluate the NDT applications in each phases of a material processing

used in the production of jet engine components.

Assignments must be hand in by 08 Jan 2016

3. Select one of the NDT Methods given in ISO and find all essential

documents/information to be used in preparing a work procedure for

NDT inspection on BPV welded section employed successfully.

Assignment will be carried out in class on last lecture in week 3 of Jan

2016

Note:

Assignment 1 and 2 shall not be more than 10 pages; 1.5 line

spacing and Arial font; A4 size format.

Assignment 3 shall be done in class within 40 minutes period and

using own blank papers.
