1. SWACHH Campus

Venue: Kristu Jayanti College and K.Narayanapura

Date: 01/07/2017

No Of Students Participated: 120

Objective: To keep this campus clean by clearing all plastics and other wastes.

A Swachh Campus drive was conducted on 1st July 2017 in the Afternoon. The unit was

guided by the NSS Program officer Dr. Sreedhar PD and other faculty coordinators Prof.

Vinod, Prof. Nayaz Pasha. The main intention behind this activity was to clear all the dry

wastes lying in and around college campus. This activity focused on keeping our

environment clean and healthy.

2. ROAD SAFETY AWARNESS PROGRAM

Venue: Mini Auditorium II

Date: 07-07-17

No Of Students Participated: 270

No of Beneficiaries: 270

Objective of this Programme: To educate NSS volunteers about the road safety and its

measures to avoid road accidents.

The program was initiated to create awareness about the road safety measures so that it

will benefit the society on a long run. The program was honoured by the presence of the chief

guests Mr.Mahesh Kumar, Inspector of police, Traffic and Mr. Shrinivasa Rao, Inspector of

police, Traffic. The gathering was welcomed by a final year NSS volunteer Elizabeth Joy.

Mr.Sarangan from III B.Com ACCA introduced the chief guest to the audience. The

dignitaries lighted the lamp. The chief guest Mr. Mahesh Kumar initiated his talk by pointing

out the statistics about the road accidents happening in Bangalore. He then enlightened the

students about the measures that have to be followed to ensure road safety. He also

emphasized on the rules and regulations pertaining to road safety followed by students

interaction and queries handling, ultimately making the whole session more interactive and

informative. Mr. Mahesh also highlighted on women safety and provided information about a

women safety application that helps women during times of distress. After the guest talk,

Rev.Fr.Josekutty, P.D, Principal, appreciated the traffic department for their valuable efforts

taken to ensure the safety of general public and also praised the NSS unit for their active

involvement. The session concluded with a vote of thanks.

3. SWACHH Campus

Venue: KristuJayanti College and Kothanur

Date: 05/08/2017

No Of Students Participated: 110

Objective: To keep the campus clean and a plastic free zone.

A Swachh Campus drive was conducted on 5th

August 2017 Afternoon. The members of the

unit were guided by the faculty coordinators. In this regard, all the volunteers of NSS unit

spread across our college campus and the neighborhood areas to clean up all the plastic

wrappers, bottles, etc., they also ensured that no wrappers were lying in and around the

campus. The main objective of this program was to remind the students to keep the campus

and the surroundings clean.

4. A REPORT ON VANAMAHOTSAVA PROGRAM

Venue: Nagenahalli

Date: 5-8-2017

No Of Students Participated: 118

No of sapling planted: 50

Objective of this Programme: To Go Green, plant trees and preserve the earth.

Two activities that were carried out on 5th

August: One set of students participated in Swachh

Campus. Another set of students were involved in “Vanamahotsava” program that was

conducted at Nagenahalli. The program commenced at 2pm. The NSS volunteers along with the

faculty coordinators visited Nagenahalli. The volunteers actively participated in order to protect

our environment from pollution and planted saplings in different places. The faculty members

also joined and guided the students throughout .VANAMAHOTSAVA program made the

students realise that they can create a better space to live in and a better earth to breathe in. There

was active participation from the students. The program will surely benefit the society in the long

run.

5. ORIENTATION TO FIRST YEAR STUDENTS

VENUE: Mini auditorium II

Date: 10-8-2017

No Of Students Participated: 170

Objective of this Programme: Introducing the first year students to NSS.

The program commenced at 4:30 with a welcome speech by Kumesh, student coordinator

NSS. A complete briefing of NSS activities were presented to the first year students by NSS

senior volunteers. Firstly, NSS and its objectives were introduced to the students by

Alphonsa Joy, student coordinator, followed by the presentation about the regular activities

of NSS by other student coordinators Madhu Shree and Lakshmi Kanth. Then the students

were briefed about the special camp and other programs of NSS. The general rules and

regulations were also explained to the new volunteers. The orientation program gave an in

depth knowledge on NSS and its activities. The students were enlightened through the

various presentations. The faculty coordinators were also introduced to the students. The

program concluded by 6pm.

6. INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION-VISIT TO ALAMBA CHARITABLE

TRUST

VENUE: Alamba Charitable Trust, Doddagubbi

DATE: 15/8/2017

No of Beneficiaries: 150 inmates

No of Students Participated: 224

Objective: To offer support to the old and disabled people

As a part of the Independence Day celebration, the NSS unit decided to visit Alamba

Chraitable Trust. NSS Program officers along with NSS volunteers visited this NGO

Home in Doddagubbi. A huge donation of Rs. 15000 was collected from the college (for

constructing the shed) and lots of medicines, food items, and groceries were purchased

and distributed to this home. This contribution was of great help to them as it met some

of the basic necessities of the people leading their lives in the trust.

7. A REPORT ON DENGUE AWARENESS PROGRAM

Venue – Narayanapura, Gedalahalli, Kothanur

Date: 19-8-2017

No Of Students Participated: 250

No of beneficiaries-87 houses/150 residents

Objective of this Programme: To educate nearby localities about dengue and to create

awareness.

The program started at 3pm and almost all the NSS volunteers were present for this session.

The first year students actively participated in this awareness program. The students were

grouped into three- saffron, white and green.Each group headed to three different nearby

villages. Saffron headed to Narayanapura village and covered around 63 houses, the white

group headed to Gedalahalli and covered around 13 houses and the green group headed to

Kothanur and covered around 11houses. The volunteers along with the faculties took active

steps to educate the society. This activity was intended to spread the awareness about dengue,

its causes, symptoms and remedial measures to overcome it.

8. SWACHH Campus

Date: 01/09/2017

No Of Students Participated: 220

Objective: To make this campus and our environment clean and free from plastics and other

wastes.

In connection with the Central Government Initiative “ SWACCHATA PAKWADA” ,

Three programmes were conducted from September 1 to September 15.

A valedictory programme was conducted on 16th September

This activity was carried out along with CSA and NCC Volunteers in connection with

“SWACCHATA PAKWADA” Initiative.

In connection to this initiative, a Swachh Campus drive was carried out by our NSS team on 1st

July 2017 at 3.30 pm. Few students were instructed to clean our campus, and few spread to

K.Narayanapura and executed this drive. The students were accompanied by the faculty

coordinators. The students cleared all the dry wastes lying in and around the areas.

9. SWACHH BHARAT

Date: 14-9-2017

Locality: Narayanpura and Nagenahalli

No Of Students Participated: 190

Objective of this Programme: To clean the locality and to protect the environment from

harmful wastes.

This programme was undertaken in order to provide our contribution towards Central

Government Initiative. The three groups- Saffron, White and Green along with the faculty

coordinators were part of this program. The students cleaned the nearby locality and

collected waste that is harmful for the environment. The students collected dry waste such as

paper waste and plastic materials that were thrown in various places. The student volunteers

actively participated in this program .The program concluded at 5:30pm

10. DENGUE AWARENESS PROGRAM

Date: 15-09-17

Area Covered : Kothanur, Geddalahalli, Nagenahalli

No Of Students Participated: 170

No of Beneficiaries: 50-60 houses/110 residents

Objective of this Programme: To educate nearby localities about dengue and to create

awareness.

The program started at 4.30 pm and around 170 NSS volunteers were present for this

session. The first year students actively participated in this awareness program. The three

groups- saffron, white and green headed to different nearby localities. They covered around

50-60 houses in kothanur. The program concluded at 4:30PM.

11. VALEDICTORY PROGRAMME OF “SWACCHATA PAKWADA”

VENUE: Quadrangle

Date: 16-9-2017

No Of Students Participated: 250

Objective of this Programme: In order to take pledge to keep our environment clean.

The program started at 12:45PM. The program was held in the quadrangle and all the

volunteers gathered along with CSA and NCC Volunteers. There was an introduction on

“SWACHATA PAKHWADA” which is a part of “SWACH BHARATH ABIYAN”. The

Management, Faculty members and all the Volunteers pledged to keep the environment

clean.

12. SWACHH Campus

Venue: Kristu Jayanti College and K.Narayanapura

Date: 23/09/2017

No Of Students Participated: 207

Objective: To make this campus clean and tidy by clearing all wastes.

A Swachh Campus drive was conducted on 23rd

September. The students were instructed to

clean the wastes that were lying around the campus. They also made sure that no wrappers

were lying in and around the campus. The volunteers along with the faculty members played

an active role in keeping the campus clean by collecting the waste and disposing it.
