Kiss and Drop ZoneDrop off will continue in the mornings; parents and children are doing a great job. We continue to observe COVID restrictions particularly relating to parents signing in. Please use the QR code (for contact tracing pur-poses) and the visitors sign on book (either on the Nashie Nosh or in the office)

Only one signature a day maximum is required. At each level (there are three) your child will receive a certificate and a book. Children who reach Club 300 by Presentation Night will receive a special certificate sponsored by Cabonne Council. The ultimate goal is Club 300, however, the Home Reading Program is not compulsory.

RESPECT INTEGR I TY Orange Small Schools (OSSA) Swimming Carnival Congratulations to all students who competed in the recent OSSA Swimming Carnival. We have many students gaining selection for the OSSA Green Team to compete at the District Carnival on Friday 26 February 2021.

Thank you to the enormous number of students who ‘had a go’ and competed in so many races to accrue points for our school. A very big thank you to Mrs McMillan who was our Team Manager for the day.

A big congratulations to Jock P who was declared the 11yr Boys Champion! Well done Jock!Cumnock PS put on a fantastic carnival, thank you for your brilliant organisation. Students who have qualified for the District Carnival will be notified during the week.

District Swimming Team 2021Congratulations to Toby B, Demi E, Charli G, Austin W, Ingrid S, Jock P, Lydia A, Alli G, Ace H, Hugh J and Lennox J for qualifying to represent OSSA Green in the Orange District Swimming Carnival on Friday 26 February 2021. The carnival will be held at the Orange Aquatic Centre. Students have received their permission notes and they must be returned by this Friday, 19 February. Again, only one parent/carer from each family group may attend the carnival as per the Aquatic Centre’s COVID plan. Go OSSA Green!

School Sport - OSSATraditionally, the Orange Small Schools Association has competed as one ‘school’ in all Primary School Sport Association (PSSA) events. In our governing bodies con-stitution, there is a clause allowing schools to join to compete, but only up to a total combined K-6 enrolment of 250 students.Over the past few years, the enrolment of students in the Orange Small Schools As-sociation has more than doubled. This means, to be eligible to compete in school sports, we need to split OSSA into three zones. OSSA will still continue to have com-bined carnivals in Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics, but will send represent-atives from each of the three zones to district events. These zones are set at the beginning of each year based on enrolment census numbers. We anticipate that there will be little change to the zones from year to year. The long term goal is to increase the ceiling number of combined enrolments, but this will mean a change to the State PSSA constitution and will take a significant amount of time to enact. Each zone nominates their own teams for entry in the PSSA Knockout.

GREEN ZONE - Canobolas and NashdaleWHITE ZONE - Clergate, Mullion Creek, Spring Hill and CumnockGOLD ZONE - Euchareena, Cargo, Borenore, Manildra, Cudal and Spring Terrace.OSSA has representation at the Orange District PSSA and forward information from here to our individual schools. This ensures that students from small schools have the same representational opportunities as those students from larger schools.

RESPECT INTEGR I TY Central Western Daily featuresA photographer from the Central Western Daily has photographed our Kin-dergarten class as well as our School Captains for the Big Steps for Tiny Feet. Keep an eye out for our Kindergarten students in the CWD on Monday 22 February and our leaders will be featuring on Saturday 27 February 2021.

No nuts pleaseA reminder that Nashdale has students who are anaphylactic, so it is very important that students do not bring nuts (including products such as peanut butter and nutella). Food with traces of nut products such as some biscuits and muesli bars are fine. Thank you so much for your understanding with this matter.

Payments to schoolThere are a number of options for payments. Currently with COVID restrictions our preferred method of payment for school fees, excursions, Transition fees etc) is the use of the on-line payment portal on the website under the Make a Payment tab. Students may continue to bring in money for excursions, under $50.00 (cheques are accepted). WHS RequirementsAll visitors to the school must come through the front office to sign in.All parents who transport children must provide copies of license and registra-tion.

All parents who volunteer will need to complete the Declaration for Volun-teers and Non-Child Related Contractors form which is available at the office. Working With Children numbers are currently not required, however we must sight your ID when submitting your form. This is the same form for trades per-sons not working directly with students.

All volunteers who are NOT a parent must have completed a current Working with Children check number. The volunteer Clearance level is free of charge. This is to ensure the continued safety of our students and is a mandatory requirement in all DoE schools. Along with the WWC number, you must com-plete the Declaration for Child Related Work - Specified Volunteers and Child Related Contractors form.

The application process for WWCC clearance is as prescribed by the Chil-dren’s Guardian. For the full conditions, please visit the website at www.kids.nsw.gov.au. Please see the office if you are unsure of your requirements.

Orange Running FestivalDue to current COVID restrictions, the Orange Running Festival are unable to conduct the usual suite of events. This means the annual Schools Challenge Race is not going ahead for the 2021 festival. However, we highly encourage students to enter either the 2km Junior Dash on Saturday 6 March or the individ-ual 6km running event on Sunday 7 March. All registrations are online though the Orange Running Festival website.

School Merit SystemStudents will earn credit awards from their classroom teacher. In addition to their teacher, a student may receive additional credit awards from other teachers eg: Mrs Miller for dance, Mr Wilson for debate and so on. It is therefore possible for students to achieve different levels at different times throughout their schooling.Once your child has accrued the correct amount of credit or merit awards, simply return the credit awards and/or merit awards to school to receive the next merit award or star.

4 x Credit Awards = 1 x Merit Award4 x Merit Awards = Bronze Star8 x Merit Awards = Silver Star
