From the Principal ….

Things are shaping up for a great John O’Brien (JOB)

Festival in Narrandera this coming weekend. NPS

children have entered into competitions, our school will

host a festival disco for children in our hall, children and

their friends and family are able to join the ‘Conga line’

planned by the festival organisers (this is not a school

coordinated event so children don’t have to ‘meet’ school

staff anywhere – everyone can just roll up at 1.30pm at

the Council Chambers and have a good time!) and our

choir will perform at the ANZAC tribute concert to be held

on Saturday at 11.00am at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club. I

am sure everyone will support this year’s JOB festival

and it will be a wonderful success for the Narrandera

community.

Yesterday afternoon staff attended a Professional

Learning session about our involvement in a Riverina

Region ‘Inclusive Schools’ project. NPS is one of four

Riverina schools to be involved in this Professional

Learning. Guest speakers were Dr. Laurette Bristol from

Charles Sturt University in Wagga and Mrs. Janine

Agzarian, Student Service Officer from the department’s

regional office. Staff participated in discussions that

focused on practises and strategies that can lead to

improved student and whole school outcomes. We will

provide more information to families about aspects of our

work within this project as time goes by.

To support our work with your children, class learning

and teacher assessment review meetings will be held in

the coming weeks with all class learning and support

teams. These meetings will provide an opportunity for

class teachers, support staff, supervisors and me to

discuss a wide range of issues relating to quality

cooperative teaching and analysis of children’s

learning assessment data and how this information will

inform our teaching and learning activities. We have

appreciated the feedback we have received from families

about our 2013 class learning and support team model

and will continue to work alongside all families in support

of children’s learning and well-being.

Girls Cricket Clinic Narrandera Cricket Inc and Cricket NSW is holding a coaching clinic for girls at Henry Mathieson Oval on Friday, March 15 from 4pm. Any interested girls are invited to attend. Riverina girls cricket coach Steve Weckert is running the session. More info contact Steve on 0413 062515. Junior Basketball Last Wednesday and Thursday saw week two of the junior competition. The Junior Yrs 1, 2 & 3 teams are complete and there are 4 teams. All teams will play on Wednesdays at 5.30pm. Referees are Molly Darrington, Olivia Mercuri, Lachlan Galvin and Matt Dillon. The Intermediate Yrs 4 & 5 numbers are great and there will be 5 teams in this division. This newsletter is produced with the support of the

Spiders will have the bye this week in the intermediates all other teams will play at 6.30pm Wednesday. Referees are Jack Grintell, Lachlan Galvin, Isaac Williams and Matt Dillon. On Thursday Sub Seniors Yrs 6 & 7 will play at 6.15pm, referees Matt Dillon, Renae Galvin, Molly Darrington and Nelson Farias. Seniors Yrs 8+ will play at 7.15pm. I need all players playing in this age group to turn up this week or let me know you won’t be there as I need to finalise teams for this division. Referees are Olivia Mercuri, Nelson Farias and Molly Darrington. Aussie Hoops has also commenced with a great turn up of eager learners. Aussie hoops is for Children from Kinder to Year 2 and is held on Thursdays from 4pm til 5pm. Registration for Aussie Hoops is $15 and $3 each week. Junior Basketball registration is $45 and can be paid off. Game fees are $3 per game and are to be paid at the kiosk prior to your game.

Narrandera Eagles Registration

Registration for junior AFL – U/11, U/13, U/15 + Netballers will be held

on Thursday 14th March at the Clubrooms from 5.30-6.30pm.

Cost is $75 per player. Also, everyone is invited to attend an “Eagles Family Afternoon”. This is to be held on Saturday 16th March at the Sportsground. All Welcome!! DIY Vegie Patch Fun If you are on a low income or hold a concession card this is for you. It’s FREE. The Shady Gum Nursery Wednesday, 20 March, 2013. Mini bus leaves SaCC at Narrandera Primary School at 10.15am. Plant-up starts at 10.30am - you return to SaCC by 12.15pm. The workshop includes morning tea. You plant and take home your own mini vegie and herb patch to keep for your family. Great for getting kids to eat well - Children welcome—please supervise them.

District Swimming Carnival – Albury, March 8 Last Friday, Paige Godden, Heath Chappell and Rowan Matthews

went to the District Swimming Carnival in Albury. All three

students swam to the best of their ability. They represented

their school and Zone with beautiful manners and a huge effort

in their races. The following day Paige and Heath swam in

Sydney in a swimming carnival. Both swam really well.

A big thank you goes to Beth Chappell and Natasha Godden for

taking the students to Albury.

School Parliament On the 11

th we had our second Parliament for this year. We had a lot of things that were carried so Ministers will be

very busy. Thank you to those classes who came and gave us some suggestions to help our school. We started with Year 4 and then carried on with Year 5 and 6. With those 3 classes we had 7 things carried. These things included drama classes, fishing, casual clothes and hat day, footy clothes day, new netball court, to write numbers in front of bus lines for the Kindergarten children and to have a coin line. We will have a lot to talk about next Parliament. To the leaders of each class if you have no report please talk to the students and teachers of your class and bring some suggestions for our next Parliament. Any suggestions will be considered. So we can give something back to the community this coin line will be a good chance for our school to raise funds for members of our school or community members.
