ACTIVITY 1 : WARMER

The teacher creates a friendly atmosphere in the classroom and prepares students for the lesson by introducing herself and asking the students to do so as well by writing their names on the cards handed by the teacher, and then placing them on their desks so that the teacher can see their names.

ACTIVITY 2 : FORMULATION OF THE SUBJECT (LEAD-IN)

The teacher explains to the students what the subject of the lesson is:

- Grammar Revision: Present Simple, Present Continuous (in contrast) and Past Simple (regular and irregular verbs)

- Vocabulary Revision: Jobs and Occupations

The teacher writes the title on the blackboard (Revision) and all the main items that are going to be discussed during the lesson.

Interaction: T - SsEstimated Time: 5 minutes

ACTIVITY 3 - REVISION OF GRAMMAR TENSES (Present Simple vs. Present Continuous / Past Simple (Regular and Irregular forms)

Aims:

to revise the forms and the uses of Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple to revise and practice the Present Simple and Present Continuous in contrast to revise and practice regular and irregular verbs in the Past Simple

The teacher makes an oral revision, together with the Ss, of the forms and uses of the Present Simple and Present Continuous.

The teacher asks a S to give out the worksheets (see handout no.1 "Revision Worksheet") with exercises on Present Simple vs. Present Continuous. The teacher explains that the Ss will have to work individually.

The teacher checks the answers.

The teacher makes an oral revision, together with the Ss, of the forms and uses of the Past Simple and of the two types of verbs in English Language: regular and irregular.

The teacher asks a S to give out the worksheets (see handout no.2 "Revision Worksheet") with exercises on Past Simple, respectively on regular and irregular verbs. The teacher explains that the Ss will have to work in pairs.

The teacher checks the answers.

ACTIVITY 4 – REVISION OF VOCABULARY

Aim: to revise the vocabulary items concerning jobs and occupations

The teacher explains to the Ss that they will be divided into groups

The teacher explains to the Ss that they will be given a worksheet (see handout no.3) and their task will be to find as many occupations as they can.

The teacher checks the answers

Extra activity (if times permits) - open discussion on jobs and occupations. Teacher asks questions.

ACTIVITY 5 - HOMEWORK

The teacher assigns the homework: "Write a paragraph of 6 lines in which to explain what job you would like to have and why".

Estimated time: 3 minutes

ACTIVITY 6 – FEEDBACK

Aim: to get a useful feedback from the Ss and to elicit them into analysing the lesson and the activities made.

The teacher asks the students simple questions such as

" Which activity did you enjoy most?" "Which activity was the most difficult for you?"

The teacher thanks the students for their participation in class and says good-bye.
