Message from the Principal
Dear Jaguar Families, Teachers and Staff,
It has been an honor and a pleasure to have been your Principal for the
past nine years. I want to thank all of you for all of your support here at
Murrieta Elementary School. It has been a blessing to work with the
teachers and staff, where everyone’s hearts are tuned to the needs of the
students—finding the right strategies to lay the foundation for student
success. Teachers and staff, you’re an awesome group of talented educa-
tors, thank you for all you do to make this school awesome!
To the students, I am also honored to have had the opportunity to get to
know you and be a part of your educational experience. I enjoyed watching
you grow and develop a positive mindset about learning.
Parents, your support has been greatly appreciated. We could not have
accomplished what we have without your help!
Thank you again for some fantastic years. I will cherish the time I spent
here at MES. You have all made an impression on my heart and I will
miss each and everyone of you. Thank
you for having me serve as your princi-
pal, I wish all of you well! Have a
great summer!!!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Estelle Jaurequi
Dear Parents and Staff,
I am honored to introduce myself as your new Assistant Principal
beginning in the 2015-2016 school year. I am excited about the
opportunity to serve such an outstanding educational community.
I have been in education 18 years, having served both parents and
students at the elementary and middle school level. I bring a wide
variety of knowledge and experience to share with you. I look for-
ward to being part of the continued success of the Murrieta Ele-
mentary School Jaguars!
Murrieta Elementary School is THE place to be. We offer an aca-
demically rigorous program that will challenge your student to
reach for the stars. I will be here every step of the way; assisting
your child in setting and reaching their goals. My job is to provide
the tools necessary for the teachers to assist the students in reach-
ing academic excellence. My goal for your child is to be the best
he/she can be, to be ready for the challenges of the 21st century,
and to be successful at no matter what they do in life.
We are not only educating children here at Murrieta Elementary
School, we are nourishing the seeds of today that will be the blooming flowers of tomorrow. Not only will we
strengthen the student’s academic ability, we will work diligently on creating exemplary citizens. Positive Behav-
ior and Intervention System (PBIS) is an innovative and successful way to work with students. The student are
taught (and re-taught) the school-wide expectations and encouraged to do their best at meeting those expecta-
tions. “Character Counts” will guide us in recognizing the outstanding Jaguars among us as we focus on a differ-
ent character trait each month, traits that are crucial in having a safe and sound place for students to learn and
succeed.
Parent involvement is high on my list. Murrieta Elementary is the fantastic school that it is because of the com-
munity of parents and teachers that work hard to make it so. We believe that our staff, students, and parents
best succeed when we work towards one common goal, “Success for All Children”. I am excited about being a part
of the important parent groups (SSC, PTC, and ELAC) and working side-by-side to create cohesiveness between
all stakeholders.
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you as the year progresses. Keep an eye out for “Pastries
with the Assistant Principal”. It will be a fun morning to meet each other, chat, and have a yummy pastry (or
two).
Here’s to a fantastic year full of success and prosperity!
With gratitude,
Cindy Dunn
Assistant Principal

Review the school year with your child & set
new goals
It’s nearing the end of a busy school year. Your child has learned
a lot. She’s read new books and she’s mastered new skills. Now
is the perfect time to talk about all of the lessons she’s learned.
Find a time when you can have a relaxing chat about school. You
might even plan something special, such as going out for a treat
or making a favorite meal together.
During your talk:
Take a look back. What was your child’s favorite project this year? In what subject did she improve the most? Which
book that the class read was her favorite? Which of her goals did she accomplish? As she talks about these positive
things, help her see the ways she has grown. “You really worked hard to master division this year. You can do hard
things when you put your mind to it!”
Take a look forward. What is your child looking forward to this summer? What is she excited about for next year? Is
there a subject or an area she’d like to improve in next year?
Are there books she would like to read?
Discuss how learning doesn’t stop at the end of the school
year. One of the great things about the summer is the oppor-
tunity to learn things that aren’t directly related to school.
Help your child think about something she’d like to learn this
summer. Would she like to learn a new sport? Would she like
to teach herself how to paint? Would she like to learn a new
language? Together, make a plan to help her achieve her goal.

Dear Parents,
On behalf of our entire school community I want to say congratulations to you and your kids! Our school was chosen by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) as a 2014 Honor Roll recipient!
This campaign is known for it’s extensive and rigorous analysis of every public school throughout California. Our school stood out among the thousands because of our success to get our students to higher levels of achievement and beyond.
Unlike other awards, the CBEE Honor Roll:
Includes a measurement of improvement
The only award given by California business leaders
Includes graduation and dropout rate data
No application process is necessary
Establishes a higher bar of performance than any other award
Takes into account equity and closing achievement gaps
We did not apply for this award (they found us!) and it is a great honor to have been chosen. We will be featured on the CBEE website and a banner has been designed just for us to hang proudly at our school.
Each year, CBEE presents this award to individual schools and to school districts that have excelled in raising student achievement and closing achievement gaps, improving the educational system for all students. Thanks to the hard work of the students and teachers here at Murrieta Elemen-tary, we are being recognized. This is a testament to the relentless focus on results that our school has shown over the years and to the hard work of our entire school community.
From all of us here at Murrieta Elementary, I give heartfelt congratulations. Together, we are improv-ing education for all students by sharing our success.
Sincerely,
Estelle Jaurequi Rob Lurkins
