Program PhilosophyThe Murrumba State Secondary College Football Academy provides talented secondary-aged players a pathway to a career in football. The Football Academy employs a student-athlete model, where qualified and experienced staff work with the students to develop on- and off-field skills. The studentathlete model combines academic performance, with positive behaviour expectations and sporting performance to achieve success. This model has provided a range of positive outcomes, including youth international representatives and national championship winning teams. The Academy provides students with numerous opportunities to represent the College in both Football and Futsal, as well as Queensland School Sport representation (District, Metropolitan, State and National level). We have a number of affiliations and contacts within the football and sporting communities, including Brisbane Roar FC, University of the Sunshine Coast, Pine Rivers School Sport, and a range of local clubs.

BenefitsEach player in the Football Academy benefits from:

Full time, year round training program. Access to high quality facilities. Start-of-year testing and screening, plus end-of-year re-testing Individualised injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance

enhancement programs. Goal-setting, pastoral care, wellness and mentoring programs. Academic improvement program. Initiatives to give back to the community. Brisbane Roar Academy partnership and pathway. Engagement with University of the Sunshine Coast Sports and Exercise

Science Faculty. First class learning environment with considerations for student athletes. Online events calendar and training schedule.

ProgramThe Football Academy is divided into two parts: the Talented Young Football Program (Years 7-10) and Certificate III in Sport and Recreation (Year 11 & 12). The Talented Young Football Program combines practical and theory lessons to develop a student-athlete, prepared for the demands of juggling athletic performance with academic studies.

MSSC The practical lessons develop the technical base the players have upon joining the program, then progress to applying them within a team unit. The theory component has four pillars, student-athletes, football excellence, performance enhancement and human excellence. The players participate in one module per year (Years 7-10) in each of those categories. The senior aspect of the Academy is provided by Binnacle Training and is delivered online by Murrumba SSC staff. Some examples of the modules within the certificate course include: coaching, officiating, event organisation, social media and first aid, amongst others.

Staff:The Football Academy employs highly-qualified and experienced coaches. The staffing model used at the College includes a Football Academy Director, Coaches (including Goalkeeper Coach) and Physical Performance Development Officer. Their roles and responsibilities are:
