This module aims to investigate through review of the literature and relevant research, the issues

surrounding role expansion in relation to autonomous practice. It will encourage exploration of the

socio-economic, professional, political ethical and legal influences on role development in Hong

Kong, and explore the benefits of change management/service development models. It will also

encourage students to apply theory to analyse decision-making processes used in their independent

    practice.

    AENP5002 Acute Illness Management 4 52 C

This module aims to explore the physiology, pathophysiology and health promotion in relation to

minor illness management. The module encourages the review of evidence and research allowing

the student to scrutinize and challenge current management of minor illness in the acute and

    primary care setting.

    AENP5003 Acute Injury Management 4 52 C

The Acute Injury Management module aims to enable students to develop confidence and

competence in aspects of clinical examination relating minor injury, and applying appropriate

intervention. This is achieved through application of the anatomy and physiology to the clients

presenting complaint, whilst considering the individuals psychosocial needs. A series of lectures,

seminars and workshops encourage active student participation. Clinical examination skills will be

enhanced through the consideration of theoretical principles.

    AENP5004 Clinical Practice 12 156 C

This module, which runs over two terms, provides a focus on clinical practice to ensure that the

students have opportunity to develop the new skills necessary to work as an ENP. There is notheoretical component to this module, but the student draws upon the knowledge gained in

ENP5001, ENP5002 and ENP5003. In order to demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes o

the course, students are required to provide evidence of their competence in portfolio submitted at

the end of term 2. The grade for this course will be assigned at the end of term 2.

Throughout the course students will need to focus on how they are going to achieve their clinical

competencies in their clinical work, through continually assessing and developing their own learning

objectives depending on their individual needs. These will be negotiated and validated with a tutor.

Achievement of these objectives over the course will be demonstrated through the compilation of

    their own portfolio.

This portfolio of evidence provides the framework for the process and assessment of student ability

to practice as an ENP. There are two essential parts to the course, which complement each other,

educationally led practice and academic knowledge. This module pulls together these two

components to enable students to develop and demonstrate competence.

    AENP5005 Facilitating Learning 1 13 C

This single unit module provides the student with opportunity to build upon the knowledge and

experience of supervision/mentorship by analyzing the teaching and learning methods used in thecourse. This will include a review of methods of facilitating learning the classroom and clinical

setting. Students will learn the general principles of classroom and clinical teaching, and secondly

will be trained to teach future students of this ENP Course. Thus, at the end of the course students

should be compete to function as future teachers of the course.
