By the age of 24, 64% of identified childhood bullies have at least one criminal conviction or are doing time behind bars. TODAY is “Friendship Day”. Make a new friend day and invite someone new into your life. Poetry Out Loud - Congratulations to Sona Keshishyan, Daniel Legita, and Manvel Muradyan for admirably representing Clark at the district's Poetry Out Loud competition Wednesday afternoon. These students memorized two poems each and presented the poems in front of an audience at our Board of Education this week. We are proud of them – WAY TO GO!

All males 17-18 years of age: Under federal law, virtually all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their

18th birthday. However, the Selective Service System now accepts early submission of registration information by 17-year-old

men. The Agency holds their registration information and automatically enters their data into the system when they turn 18. If you

don’t register, you will not qualify for federal financial aid (FAFSA), Cal-Grants, job training, or State/Federal jobs. Go on-line @

www.sss.gov.

Los Angeles Pediatric Society is sponsoring the 51st Annual Eve & Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program (Free!) for

students currently in 11th or 12th grade and born on or before 4/1/04 (check the various facility options for older age

requirements). This program is best described as a medical mentor program. Under the supervision of a health care

educator/medical facility coordinator, participants shadow various medical professionals (nurse, nutritionist, pharmacist, lab

technician, physician and/or medical specialist etc.). This is not an online application process. Application is due by mail

before February 17, 2020. Visit: www.lapedsoc.org for FAQ’s, application, program documents, and all requirements. Letters of

recommendation and an essay are required. Medical facilities providing this program are located in Los Angeles/Santa Monica

area; you will need to provide your own transportation – check their website for all the exact details before you apply.

Honoring the volunteer and public-service legacy of Dr. Ralph E. White and his wife, Eleanor, this additional scholarship

provides $500 each to two successful applicants of the Volunteer Service Scholarship who intend to pursue a career in a
