“The fact that you’ve gone for 20 years without a catastrophic event is no guarantee that there won’t be one tomorrow.”

Prof. Andrew Hopkins

Personal safety focuses on preventing high frequency, low consequence incidents like slips, trips and falls. Process Safety focuses on preventing much lower frequency events with a catastrophic consequence. Many Process Safety hazards are estimated to be likely to occur only once in the life of a facility, or even only once in the life of an industry.

Process Safety Management clearly is an essential tool to disastrous incident prevention but by itself is not enough for reliable disastrous incident prevention. By reinforcing and developing the critical leadership behaviours that drive anticipation, inquiry, execution and resilience, MPS 2014 will help create a culture that supports and sustains Process Safety excellence.

MPS 2014 training combines theory, interactive case studies, team exercises and capability assessments to provide you the knowledge of Process Safety management Best Practices and a deep understanding of what skills, techniques and processes are needed to mitigate future hazards.

Benefits of attending MPS 2014 training: Review your current Process Safety Management systems and benchmark against industry best practices

Discuss the lessons learnt from past Process Safety incidents and its implications in mitigating future events

Develop an in-depth understanding of Process Safety metrics and indicators Analyse the Process Safety and Hazard prevention models Understand Cognitive Bias in Process Safety Management Advance your Process Safety culture and leadership

Key content Areas: Process Safety concepts for - causation, prevention, measurement Recognising and managing change in Process Safety and Risk management Applying change management concepts to Process Safety Improving Process Safety performance in your organisation Assisting and enlisting support from senior managers in improving Process Safety

MPS 2014 training will use case studies of real Process Safety incidents to highlight the key concepts and delegates will be encouraged to share their knowledge of incidents for assisted group learning exercises.

“Peter Wilkinson offers a unique experience blend - industry regulator, adviser to governments on Process Safety policy and legislation, and leader of process safety implementation at corporate Executive level in the private sector. This breadth of experience provides Peter with capability to provide practical guidance to corporations and industry bodies who are ready to listen and act on his advice”

“Peter Wilkinson conducted invaluable training for U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) staff in conjunction with the inquiry into the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico. The CSB’s investigation is the largest and most complex ever undertaken by the agency. Peter’s extensive history of leadership as a UK and later as an Australian safety regulator coupled with his oil industry management experience makes him uniquely qualified to provide training on topics such as process safety and the use of the safety case approach in major hazard operations”
