Welcome to

MOrLEYI am very pleased to launch our Summer school programme for 2011. We have put together an exciting range of courses to keep you active, creative and stimulated over the Summer. Whatever your reasons are for learning, there is something for everyone at Morley.

Our highly skilled tutors, fantastic facilities and great location, close to the cafes, shops and cultural highlights of the Southbank, have helped us to attract thousands of students to study with us, for well over a hundred years.

LOCATIOn, LOCATIOn, LOCATIOn!We are an adult education college located near Waterloo in Central London, within close proximity to the heart of London’s cultural Southbank. We have been operating since 1889 and have a long history and experience of offering adult education to Londoners.

WHY MOrLEY?

SOMETHIng FOr EvErYOnEWe offer a wide range of full and part time courses for adults, starting from beginner level right through to advanced. In the Summer programme there are a wide variety of short courses for you to choose from including: art, fashion & design to humanities, health, exercise, languages and all of the performing arts: dance, drama and music.

WE SET A HIgH BArOur aim is to provide our students with a stimulating and supportive environment in which to learn. We do this by listening to the needs of our students, ensuring that our courses are up to date, and our tutors are well trained teachers as well as experienced practitioners.

A COMMunITY PErSPECTIvEWe thrive on being a strong part of the community. This summer school also offers classes in local venues in Lambeth and Southwark.

PErFOrMAnCES AnD EXHIBITIOnSDuring Summer school you’ll get the opportunity to see students put their learning into practice during performances and admire the artistic talent in the gallery’s exhibitions. What is available to our students doesn’t end once they leave the classroom.

MEET SOME nEW PEOPLE The social side to life at Morley is why we welcome back some familiar faces every year. We have various clubs and societies that students can join, depending on their area of interest, and an active student representative body.

FACILITIES

ArT, DESIgn & FASHIOnWe have dedicated art & design studios for our painting, print making, fashion, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery courses. Students can paint, carve, mould, design, throw and finish with all the right specialist equipment on hand.

We have also recently installed a digital design studio complete with new MACs for students.

DAnCEOur dance studios are ‘sprung floor’ and equipped with floor to ceiling mirrors so our students can see how to perfect their routines.

MuSICOur new music recording studio has state of the art equipment for recording, editing, mixing and mastering tracks.

LIBrArYWe have a fully stocked library with a range of books, music scores, periodicals, newspapers, CDs, DvDs and language cassettes for students use.

uHLCursula Hyde Learning Centre (uHLC) is a drop-in facility with free access to computers and the internet for students.

We want to ensure that students who attend Morley have classrooms, studios and workspaces that are fit for purpose and will help enhance their learning experience.

Art History: In Search of the Picturesque

Collecting for the Nation – the Origins of the National Gallery

By tubeFrom Lambeth north we are 100m to the left of the station, on the opposite side of the road. From Waterloo or Elephant & Castle it is approximately 10 minutes walk.

By railApproximately 10 minutes walk from Waterloo, Waterloo East and Elephant & Castle railway stations.

By carMorley is located within London’s congestion zone. We are unable to offer onsite carparking.

By bicycleWe have bicycle parking outside the College. Barclays London Cycle Hire has a docking station in King Edward Walk, which is next to the main College site.
