Class I Room 1313, Mihaylo Hall Wanna Play a Game of Health?Eileen Walsh, Ph.D. - Assistant professor - Department of Sociology - College of Humanities and Social Sciences Using a game type format, data from a research study will be presented in a fun way to tickle the imagination of youngsters and enable them to understand issues related to immigrant health practices.
Class V Room 1117, Mihaylo Hall Let’s Play a Game: Inside the Doodle Factory - Understanding the Soviet EconomyLynn Sargeant, Ph.D. - Vice Chair, Associate Professor - Department of History Americans have a hard time understanding the Soviet economy. We are used to being able to buy whatever we want and whenever we want. Soviet citizens were stuck buying what was available. Soviet products were frequently ugly and poorly made, but Soviet consumers bought them because nothing else was available. During this game, students will have a chance to participate in a Soviet-style economy. In the process, they will learn about some of the fundamental economic and social problems of the Soviet system.

Class IV Room 1308, Mihaylo Hall Physics PhunMurtadha Khakoo, Ph.D. - Professor of Physics, & Shovit Bhari, Instructional Support Staff, Physics We will show how things spin around and how we can control spinners (e.g. figure skaters, ballerinas) using spinning phun platphorms. Then we will chill out with some liquid nitrogen and smash some phrozen phlowers and phruit. We will destroy a racket ball in liquid nitrogen! We will suspend an object in air magically using supercool-ed magnets. Phancy that!
Part II: Math-e-MagicianZair Ibragimov, Ph.D. - Assistant Professor - Department of Mathematics Presentation will focus on showing “tricks” to add large numbers, count fast, and to guess numbers that someone is thinking, including some geometric problems like how to make a rectangle of largest area when perimeter is fixed, etc.
Class III Room 1303, Mihaylo Hall Part I: Why Harry Potter got a Lamborghini and Hermione got a PriusShu-Chen Jenny Yen, Ph.D. - Associate Professor - Department of Child and Adolescent Studies Presentation will be a discussion on pre-teens’ temperament/personality. The goal of this class is to help them understand their personality and possible career choices.
Part II: Power – Pollution = ?Chean Chin Ngo, Ph.D. - Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering - College of Engineering & Computer Science Presentation will discuss green energy, with a focus on solar and wind power.
