Native Americans have been the topic of essays, books, films, conversation, and a multitude of many other things for a very long period of time. The Native American culture, heritage, languages, and everything in between have been viewed in many different ways. The way that Native Americans once lived has greatly influenced the way that our society acts and lives to-day. A large amount of the activities and their lifestyles that Native Americans had in the past have shaped us, and we now do the same things just a little bit dif-ferently. While reading this book keep in mind the ac-tivities that you notice that are different and similar be-tween you and the Native Americans of the past! ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Margaret O’Rear and Macayla Myers are the two authors of this ebook. These two women are both studying at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana to become elementary school teachers. Margaret and Macayla both live in Indiana, and love to learn and teach history, specifically Native Americans. They have created this eBook that compares and contrasts Native American lifestyles of the past to the cur-rent society that you and I live in today. The purpose of this book is to help you read-ers learn how the past, in particular Native Americans, changes and shapes the fu-ture or today’s society. While reading this book, Margaret and Macayla want you to pay close attention to the similarities in Native Americans of the past lifestyles and your current lifestyle. The authors would also like you to ask yourself questions and reflect on the pasts impact on the present. Then, at the end of this eBook Margaret and Macayla have given you some questions to answer that will help you to reflect on what you have learned from this fun eBook. Now that the Native Americans are dressed and ready for the day, it is time for them to do what they do al-most every day. The Native Ameri-cans go hunting. They hunt all type of animals. They use bow and arrows, spears, and other tools to hunt.

CHAPTER 3

Now that the stu-dents are dressed and ready for the day, they do what they do al-most every day. The students go to school.

Native Americans are making clothing and other essentials for their tribe from the resources the earth has given to them.

These students go to a mall with their family to buy their clothing and other essentials.

MOCCASINSThese moccasins are a great example of the elaborate, beautiful work that the Native Ameri-cans would spend hours making. Moccasins are shoes that Native Americans wore to protect their feet from the harsh environment.

These moccasins are a great example of fashion today. Every day people buy moccasins because they like the style and the moccasins keep their feet warm. Many people are unaware, however, of the fact that Native Americans are the one’s that in-troduced all of us to the stylish and comfortable moccasin. This picture displays the difference in the moccasin most people wear today to the differ-ence in the moccasins most Native Americans wore in the past.

Now it is supper time. After the Na-tive Americans have hunted for their food, they then create a fire and prepare their meals this way.

CHAPTER 5

Later in the eve-ning, it is supper time for these students and their family. Af-ter they have bought their food from a su-permarket, they cook their food in an oven or over the stove. Then they sit down, relax, and have a nice dinner with their family.

Now it is time for the Native Ameri-cans to relax and enjoy some en-tertainment. They gather around one of their elder’s and listen to old stories and tales from the past.

CHAPTER 6

Now that their day is coming to an end, the chil-dren relax and find some enter-tainment by watching their favorite shows on the televi-sion.

The day has finally come to an end. The Native Americans go into their teepees, which are their homes, and go to bed under the stars.

CHAPTER 7

It is now time to go to bed. This child is worn out from a long day of school and fun. The boy is now sound asleep in his comfy bed in his home with his family.

Native Americans have shaped the way that you and I both live today. Although many of the things that we do today are not exactly the same type of things that the Native Americans did, they are still very closely related. This circle does not end with the Native Americans to us. Every aspect of your and my life, everything we do to-day and tomorrow, can have an impact on future generations a hundred years from now. So, the activities that you participate in now may some day shape what your children, grandchildren, even great-great-grandchildren do every day!
