    WHAT ROLE HAS THE LEADER PLAYED IN CHAMPIONINGGENDER AND GBV ACTIVITIES?

    The leader approachedCouncil and requested for apiece of land to construct a

    beach soccer pitch in Norton. Teams have been formed

    comprising both boys andgirls.

    The leader has engaged PeerEducators to educate the

    youths on GBV issues. Through the programme the

    leader has encouraged youthsto go for VCT as well as tospeak out against gender

    violations

    gave us a piece of landfor our beach soccer

    project. Council also

    contributed theexcavation machineryfor the project.

    with ZIFA.

    We have the first beach soccer pitch in Zimbabwe.

    A decrease in the number of idle youths.

    Decrease in crime involving youths in Norton.

    Decrease in unwanted pregnancies and baby dumping byyouths.

    Decrease in prostitution by school going children.

    Networks have been formed with FIFA, ZIFA (BeachSoccer Zimbabwe).

    Youths with problems now have a platform to share theirexperiences.
