We have a new kid- Yin. Shes verysociable and fitsin so well. I like

her!

Thats funny.We have a new

kid as well: Jo.

Hes also VERYsociable. But, Icant stand him.

Jos irritating.He barges in

when were talk-ing. Just arrivedbut he acts as

though we grewup together or

something.

Its like hetakes ten ballsand serves them

one after theother withoutwaiting for theother player to

hit any! He needsto back off...

How come?

Theres another new kid- Ren. She just sits therelike a statue. Ren wont say

anything. If she were playingtennis, Ill bet shed just

stand there, waiting for theball to find her racket!

Hmmm, this is how Yinmakes friends- like howI play tennis... relaxed, no

need to win, no need toshow off, never mind whoserves when, just keep

the ball in the air!

you wear or looklike - they likeyou the way youare. So, relax,

just be you.

And, dont worryabout whether

youre a lovablekid... believe me, youare! I know I am -thats why its easyfor me to say the

first hello.

But, you can pick andchoose your friends.Its okay not to be

friends with kids youdont like. Play fair

and be kind to every-one, though.

Kevins right. Friend-ship cant be forced.Hey, but if you do wantto keep your friends,work at it! Take care

of relationships.

Sometimes, I cant

make out who islonely or sad. So,its simpler to be

good to everyone.And, hey, Ill be

good to myself aswell.

If someone cracksa mean joke, dont

laugh... its not funny.Every kid should feel

safe and secure atschool. That meansno put downs, nosarcasm, no cruel

pranks, no bullying ofany kind!!

And, for friends

to feel securewith one another,

there must be hon-esty. Lee and I have

changed. I needto stop pretend-

ing and talk to himabout it.

the class, too.

alike in some ways.But, we are alike inother ways. Thatswhat makes it fun!

Who needs a bunch ofclones for a class?

Id like to fit in,too. Some kids

think Im a freakbut Im not. So,

dont be mean tokids like me. Helpus to get the help

we need.

Every kid must chipin for us to feel

good at school. If

your friends aremean to someone,

say somethinglike I did. Or, tella teacher. Dontstand by and do

nothing.

Also, dont letsomething like anaccent get in theway. I didnt. My

story started offsadly but we turnedit around to give ita happy ending. You

can, too!

Happy endings aregreat. But, why not

good beginningsas well? Im goingto try to give every

kid a fair chanceto fit in at school.
