• Eligibility index score of 2900 (weighted GPA * 800 + reading + Math from SAT = 2900)

Private Colleges and Out-of-State Public University Requirements
Requirements vary but generally most private schools require: 1) 1-2 teacher recommendations 2) a counselor recommendation 3) SAT or ACT plus 2 or 3 SAT Subject tests. If your student applies to schools which require a counselor recommendation, complete the senior profile. These are available online at http://www.msjhs.org/ in the counseling section.
Regular decision application deadlines for private colleges are generally January 1st. However, MSJ’s deadline for all school materials requiring counselor processing is October 19th. Students are limited to picking 6 schools (private or public) which require a counselor’s processing.
Subject area recommendations: English - 4 years, Lab Science – 3/4 years, Social Studies – 2/3 years, Math – 3/4 years, Foreign language – 3/4 years

Time Line Planning
• Take challenging courses
• Start a file
• Universities accept no grade lower than a C
• Balance course selections to insure that you are not over extended
• PSAT in October qualifies students for NMS
• SAT 1 March-May
• SAT II in June or when course is completed
• SAT no later than December of senior year
• Keep GPA same level
• Make university campus visits during spring break and summers
Additional Information
• Any classes taken at a post-secondary institution remain on student’s transcript permanently
• FUSD does not allow students to take courses at other institutions for advancement for their upcoming year
• FUSD Summer School offers remedial classes for students that have failed a course only
• Choose classes for next fall without basing your schedule on potential summer school courses
