Angels We Have Heard On High (trad.)

Away In A Manger (trad.)

I Wonder As I Wander soloist, Michael Amaral

Angels we have heard on high, Sweetly singing o’er the plains;

And the mountains in reply, Echoing their joyous strains:

Glo–ria in excelsis Deo, Glo–ria in excelsis Deo!

Come to Bethlehem and see, Him whose birth the angels sing;

Come adore on bended knee, Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

Glo–ria in excelsis Deo, Glo–ria in excelsis Deo!

See Him in a manger laid, Whom the choirs of angels praise;

Mary, Joseph, lend your aid, While our hearts in love we raise.

Glo–ria in excelsis Deo, Glo–ria in excelsis Deo!

Away in a manger,No crib for His bedThe little Lord Jesus

Laid down His sweet head

The stars in the bright skyLooked down where He lay

The little Lord JesusAsleep on the hay

The cattle are lowingThe poor Baby wakesBut little Lord JesusNo crying He makes

I love Thee, Lord JesusLook down from the sky

And stay by my side,‘Til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,I ask Thee to stay

Close by me foreverAnd love me I pray

Bless all the dear childrenIn Thy tender care

And take us to heavenTo live with Thee there

On this day earth shall ring with the song children sing

to the Lord, Christ our King, born on earth to save us; him the Father gave us.

Id-e-o-o-o, id-e-o-o-o, id-e-o, gloria in excelsis Deo!

His the doom, ours the mirth; when he came down to earth,

Bethlehem saw his birth; ox and ass beside him

from the cold would hide him.

God’s bright star, o’er his head, Wise Men three to him led; kneel they low by his bed, lay their gifts before him, praise him and adore him.

On this day angels sing; with their song earth shall ring, praising Christ, heaven’s King,

born on earth to save us; peace and love he gave us.

CHRISTMAS DECEMBER 25, 2010

Gathering O Come, All Ye Faithful (trad.)

Offertory O Little Town of Bethlehem (trad.)

Gospel (Christmas Eve) Luke 2:1-14Mary gave birth to her fi rstborn and laid him in a manger, and the angels appeared to shepherds nearby telling them the good news.

Gospel Acclamation Celtic Alleluia (F. O’Carroll)

First Reading (Christmas Eve) Isaiah 9:1-6“For a child is born to us, a son is given us,” prophesied Isaiah.

O Come All Ye FaithfulJoyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.Come and behold Him,

Born the King of Angels;O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

Adeste fi deles,Laeti triumphantes;

Venite, venite in Bethlehem;Natum videte,

Regem Angelorum:Venite adoremus,Venite adoremus,

Venite adoremus Dominum!

Sing, choirs of angels,Sing in exultation,

Sing all ye citizens of heaven above.Glory to God in the Highest;O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

Gloria (Jones)

First Reading (Christmas Day) Isaiah 52:7-10The ends of the earth will see God’s salvation; the good news of peace has come.

Second Reading (Christmas Day) Hebrews 1:1-6Let all angels worship God’s fi rst-born, God’s heir, God’s son.

Psalm 98 All the Ends of the Earth (M. Haugen)

Gospel (Christmas Day) John 1:1-18“The Word became fl esh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory.”

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie;

above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.

Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light;

the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above,

while mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love.

O morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth,

and praises sing to God the king, and peace to all on earth!

How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given;

so God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heaven.

No ear may hear his coming, but in this world of sin,

where meek souls will receive him, still the dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;

cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.

We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;

o come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!

Second Reading (ChristmasEve) Titus 2:11-14God’s grace appeared in the savior Christ Jesus, offering salvation to all people.

Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King; Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled: Joyful all ye nations rise, Join the triumph of the skies, With th’angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem. Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.

Christ, by highest heav’n adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord,Late in time behold him come, Off spring of a virgin’s womb:Veiled in fl esh the Godhead see, Hail th’incarnate Deity!Pleased as man with man to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King. Hail the heav’n-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all he brings, Ris’n with healing in his wings; Mild he lays his glory by, Born that man no more may die, Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth. Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.

1. Have you heard the sound of the angel voices Ringing out so sweetly, ringing out so clear? Have you seen the star shining out so brightly As a sign from God that Christ the Lord is here? Have you heard the news that they bring from heaven To the humble shepherds who have waited long? Gloria in excelsis Deo, Gloria in excelsis Deo! Hear the angels sing their joyful song.

2. He is come in peace in the winter’s stillness, Like a gentle snowfall in the gentle night; He is come in joy like the sun at morning Filling all the world with radiance and with light. He is come in love as the child of Mary; In a simple stable we have seen his birth: Gloria in excelsis Deo, Gloria in excelsis Deo! Hear the angels singing “Peace on earth.”

3. He will bring new light to a world in darkness, Like a bright star shining in the skies above; He will bring new hope to the waiting nations When he comes to reign in purity and love. Let the earth rejoice at the Savior’s coming; Let the heavens answer with the joyful morn: Gloria in excelsis Deo, Gloria in excelsis Deo! Hear the angels singing “Christ is born.”

Silent Night (Franz Gruber)Silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin mother and child. Holy infant so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight.

Glories stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing alleluia,

Christ the savior is born, Christ the savior is born!

Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love’s pure light Radiant beams from Th y holy face,

With the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord, at Th y birth,

Jesus, Lord, at Th y birth.

Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht! Alles schläft, einsam wacht

Nur das traute hochheilige paar. Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar,

Schlaf in Himmlischer Ruh! Schlaf in Himmlischer Ruh!
