1. Opening of the sittingThe sitting opened at 9.00.

2. Composition of new committeeThe President announced that following the setting-up of:

— the special committees on:

beating cancer;

artificial intelligence in a digital age; and

foreign interference in all democratic process in the European Union, including disinformation;

— the subcommittee on tax matters;

— the committee of inquiry on the protection of animals during transport;

the political groups and the non-attached Members had communicated their appointments to thePresident in accordance with Rule 209.

The composition of the new committees was published on Parliament's website and annexed to theminutes of the sitting (minutes of 10.7.2020 annex 1).

3. Negotiations ahead of Parliament's first reading (Rule 71) (actiontaken)The President announced that no request had been received on behalf of a number of Members or apolitical group or groups reaching at least the minimum threshold concerning the other decisions toenter into interinstitutional negotiations as announced in the minutes of Wednesday 8 July 2020(minutes of 8.7.2020, item 4).

The ITRE, EMPL and INTA Committees had thus been able to initiate negotiations on expiry of thedeadline laid down in Rule 71(2).
