Making of for minor project

TRANSCRIPT

Description

• The aim of this project is to create a theme

park digital set using the work of

Kandinsky as inspiration.

Kandinsky

• Kandinsky is known for his abstract art.

• He is also one of few people considered to

have a condition called Synesthesia.

• His work came in three categories:

Composition, Impression and

Improvisation

Composition

• Kandinsky considered his compositions to

be milestones in his artistic ability.

Composition IV Composition VII Composition X

Impressions

• These paintings were influenced by music.

Impression III

Impression V

Improvisation

• His improvisations were his random

thoughts placed onto canvas.

Synesthesia

• Synesthesia is a condition where the

person receives mixed sensory reactions

from a single stimulus.

• For example when Kandinsky heard music

he could also see colour.

Direction change

• After the pitch I went down a slightly different design path. Instead of creating rides with Kandinskys style I decided to create rides that used his methodology which was to let music be the inspiration.

• I was put into contact with Ethan Shilling so that this would be possible.

Ethan Shilling

• Ethan Shilling is a UCA Alumni

• has worked on a variety of projects.

Including Project Requiem and Sounds of

Rochester

Ethan Shilling: Project Requiem

• This Project involved using motion capture

and entering the data to create shapes.

Ethan Shilling: Sounds of Rochester

The idea behind this project was to create

something visual from pre recorded sounds

Movement

Making of: Roller Coaster

Making of: Roller Coaster• Using the first plugin

shown. I plugged in

Arnold Schoenburgs

String Trio, op 45

(1946) and the

plugin created a

string of particles.

Making of: Roller Coaster• From the created

particles I created a

curve.

Making of: Roller Coaster• From this I

shortened it down to

a useable piece.

Making of: Roller Coaster• I then used the bend

deformer to create

the circle.

Making of: Roller Coaster• Then created a

small piece of track.

And extruded it

along the curve.

Making of: Roller Coaster• Starting to add the

supports to keep the

structure up.

Next Step

• Complete the Rollercoaster track

completing the supports and adding an

entrance way.

• Animate the Cart.

• Move on to the other rides.

• Create branding for the rides and the park

Roller Coaster Initial Branding Idea

Other Ride ideas

I want to create more rides in the same way as Kandinsky by putting

the rides into different categories. Some will be music based like the

Impression paintings and some that are purely to express style like the

composition paintings.

Other Ride ideas

This ride will be

animated by using a

motion path created

from one of the

plugins. In theory the

different songs should

create a different

rocking motion.

Other Ride ideas

This ride need to be re

designed. The updated

idea is that using the

plugin with the cubes

I’ll create multiple seats

that will react to a

piece of music

differently, given the

riders a different

experience on each

seat.

Other Ride ideas

This ride will be one of

the composition rides

being purely stylistic.
