Here are some book suggestions or check the children’s section of the local library for other books and resources. THE BERENSTAIN BEARS FORGET THEIR MANNERS BY STAN AND JAN BERENSTAIN “When Mama Bear’s efforts to improve her family’s manners are unsuccessful, she devises a Politeness Plan. Basic etiquette is presented in a practical way.”—School Library Journal. The Berenstain Bears Forget Their Manners is also available on video. PERFECT PIGS: AN INTRODUCTION TO MANNERS BY MARK BROWN This book is a simple introduction to good manners. It highlights the proper manners to use in situations with family, friends, at school, during meals, on the phone, at parties, and in public places. OVERVIEW Moonbeams learn about and practice manners —rules that will help them get along with others. OBJECTIVES To earn this emblem, Moonbeams need to complete at least one activity from each section, the Bible lesson and plan a dinner, tea party or banquet to practice what they have learned. Objective:The objective of the game is to identify good and poor manners.

Supplies:• Royal Manners and Monster Manners

“Posters”

• Royal and Monster Manner Cards

Instructions:1. Included in this material are two 8 ½ x 11

“posters” to use in the game. One is titled Royal Manners and the other is titled Monster Manners. These can be displayed either on the wall above a table or placed in clear plastic photo frames and placed on a table.

2. Copy the cards and cut them apart. Shuffle them and place them in a stack.

3. Explain that when good manners are used, people think we’re acting like a prince or princess. Using poor manners can make us seem like a little monster.

4. Moonbeams take turns drawing cards from the stack and deciding whether the card is an example of good manners (Royal Manners) or poor manners (Monster Manners).

5. After the Moonbeam has decided which type of manner their card is, they place it in a pile under the Royal Manners or Monster Manners “poster.”
