Grades for successfully completed high school courses will be posted as a “P” for passing on the high school transcript. (See page 17 in the High School Course Digest.)

Units of credit awarded with a grade of “P” are not included in high school grade point average (GPA) and will not receive quality points.

Students must earn credit in physical science or physics to graduate from high school.

ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS•Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Loftus, Mrs. Herdina, Mrs. Mitchell, and Mrs. Paul•Language Arts has a heavy focus in three major areas:

•Reading comprehension •Vocabulary acquisition and knowledge•Writing

•For our writing standard, students will be expected to write both extended and constructed responses for Argumentative Writing, Informational Writing, and Response to Literature•We are utilizing the R.A.C.E strategy in all content areas. This means students are expected to restate the question, answer the question, cite textual evidence, and explain their textual evidence. •Mrs. Loftus and Mrs. Herdina will be hosting Writer’s Workshop for any student who wants additional assistance on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
