Physical Science for HS Credit
The District is excited to inform you that all Forsyth County Middle Schools are providing the opportunity for eighth grade students to earn high school credit in physical science this year. As a part of the District’s mission to prepare and inspire all students to contribute and excel, we expect this course to provide multiple benefits to our students as they enter high school next year.
Physical Science Key Points
Standards for 8th grade physical science as well as high school physical science can be reviewed at www.georgiastandards.org.
Students will take the Milestones for eighth grade physical science in April.
Students will take the End of Course test (EOC) for physical science in May.
The EOC score is recorded as 20% of the course average.
Students must pass the course with a 70 or above to earn high school credit.
Physical Science Key Points
Grades for successfully completed high school courses will be posted as a “P” for passing on the high school transcript. (See page 17 in the High School Course Digest.)
Units of credit awarded with a grade of “P” are not included in high school grade point average (GPA) and will not receive quality points.
Students must earn credit in physical science or physics to graduate from high school.
