TRANSCRIPT
Ultrasonic spray nozzles have long been recognized as an ideal tool
for micro-encapsulation. Their characteristic low-velocity spray, easily controllable drop size (drop
diameter is determined by nozzle frequency), and non- clogging design provide a perfect fit for many applications.
One method of using this unique technology for microencapsulation consists of spraying a liquid containing solids that immediately dry in
the air after atomization takes place, and fall gently into a liquid bath (Figure B below), creating encapsulated particles.
Another method uses Sono-Tek’s new dual liquid feed option (shown below) allowing for even greater flexibility in your process. With the appropriate chemistry, two liquids can be mixed right at the nozzle’s atomizing surface (see figure A to left).
• Ultrasonic atomization produces a tight and controllable drop size distribution
• Non-clogging ultrasonic nozzle is easy to clean, with low maintenance
• Capable of micro-quantity dispensing
• Produces low-velocity, spherical drops
• Dual liquid feed avoids premature mixing of components
Frequencies available from 25 - 120 kHz, depending on your drop size requirements.
Over 500 different ultrasonic nozzle configurations are available from Sono-Tek.To determine what system will best meet your needs, please feel free to speak with one of our sales engineers at 845-795-2020.
