1-Overall Aims of the Program:

The overall goals of the program are to develop a clinical pathologist

(CP) with the following characteristics:

1.a. Capable of communicating as a medical consultant to other clinicians

and to patients, as well as being capable of optimally directing the

management of the clinical laboratory enterprise.

1. b. Knowing the science and technology of the clinical laboratory and

assures the quality, clinical appropriateness, and usefulness of the data

produced by that laboratory. The CP is a clinician first and foremost.

1.c. Consulting on methods of diagnostic test development, test utilization in

the context of both generally applicable as well as patient- specific

clinical settings, and assay interpretation in the acute and chronic

clinical management of patients. These activities include the CP's role

pK and concentration of the weak acid and its conjugate base are given

using the Hendrson – Hasselbalch equation.

2.c.a.3. Analyze the data given in a CBC or Bone Marrow report.

2.c.a.4. Define different types of anticoagulants and their optimal

concentrations.

2.c.a.5. List different types of microbiological cultures.

2.c.a.6. State different types of immunological techniques.

2.c.a.7. List the types and discuss the proper use of a centrifuge, analytical

balance, and glassware for diluting concentrated substances.

2.c.a.8. Differentiate the type of pipette when an actual pipette or its

description is given.
