Making Everyone Successful
March is here and before the month is out spring will be as well; warmer weather and beautiful days! I also
hope we are done with the snow.
I also hope you have taken the opportunity to look at your child’s routines as I mentioned last month. It is not
easy to break bad habits/routines or develop new ones but don’t give up, keep the goal or end in mind and
then make those changes to help your child achieve it; they can do it with your support. A goal I would like to
see our entire student body make for themselves is to be at school every day. There is no substitute for show-
ing up in life. I hope you will assist us in making this a part of your child’s routine. So, please continue getting
your child to school prepared and ready to be engaged in learning opportunities each day and we will continue
to do whatever it takes to engage them.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education, as well as your support of our
school. As always to assist us in the continuous improvement of our processes and procedures let us know of
any concerns, suggestions, comments, compliments or ideas you may have.

Mrs. Hale’s News– 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Reading/Language Arts
The 5th

she is here. That is a great quality to have to be a success in school and as an adult. Gracie LOVES to read and is
also very interested in History! Gracie is 10 years old. Her favorite food is macaroni and tomato juice. Her
favorite activity at school is Social Studies class. She wants to be a historian when she grows up. She is planning
to attend Centre College. GREAT JOB, Gracie!
Reading Skills
Students are continuing to learn new reading skills and also are reviewing reading skills we discussed during the
first semester. We are spending time working on perfecting our answers to constructed response questions.
These questions have the students take what they have read and have them process the text through writing.
AR
Reading practice outside of the classroom is one of the best ways to become a better reader. To help practice
this skill, students are required to read AR books and take a test on the books they read. Students have been
assigned AR points based on their reading level. Their AR points will count as one test grade in reading. Your
child will receive an update on their AR progress at various times throughout the 9 weeks. Our library is filled
with AR books and your child has the opportunity to get 2 books each week. If you have books at home you
wish to read, you can check to see if your book is an AR book and how many points it is worth by looking at the
website www.arbookfind.com.
Mrs. Julie Hale
