DESCRIPTION
May - Nuha. What a Busy GirlTRANSCRIPT
Nuha has settled to our childcare centre very well within short time. She loves to be part of our
happy community. She has established trusting relationship with all her friends and teachers. We
are so happy to have her with us. She likes to do all the Montessori activities. Every day she
would choose some activities, especially pouring and spooning. She knows how to carry a tray
with things on it. When she finishes one activity she always tidy up and put it back where she got
it from and then she choose another one.
Nuha has a very good pencil skill, She knows
how to hold a pencil and write with it. She
likes coloring, and she can concentrate on a
long time coping stencil shapes on a paper
using only a normal sharpe black pencil..
Nuha’s language skill is good, sometimes she
speaks for her brother Furqan, Nuha was quite
shy girl when she first started to come to An–
Nur. She used to observe others, and learn by
observing. Sometimes in our group time when
I asked a question or sing songs she wouldn’t
answer or sing with us. I was surprised to
watch her one day she was sitting on a rock-
ing horse and singing, “I am Muslim….” she
sang the whole song. I don’t know when she
memorised the song.
Nuha is a gentle, caring and friendly person.
She is aware of our rules and routines. She
has no problem following those.
We will assist Nuha to further develop her
skills and knowledge through providing sup-
port and encouragement throughout all areas
of our programme.

Nuha has been showing a lot of interest in art work. She knows all the process of doing
drawing and painting. Now she is moving her attention towards cutting with scissors. A few
weeks ago I have given her a lesson on how to use a pair of scissors. Nuha has been practic-
ing how to open and shut the scissors using her thumb in one side and two other finger in
other side. We keep some long strip of papers ready for the children, which has variety of
different line drawn on it. Very often Nuha would sit with the basket of paper and a pair of
scissors and concentrated on cutting those papers following the lines, making little pieces or
shapes.
Learning happening here-
Through all the art activities
Nuha has been doing
-she is developing her fine
motor skills, hand-eye co-
ordination, concentration.
-Also extending imagination
and creativity
Increasing self discipline
and independence
What next ?
We will make sure that Nuha gets
opportunities to improve her skills
further.
We will provide new challenging
activities so that Nuha can practice
scissors skills where she needs to cut
Varity of different shapes and sizes.
In New Zealand Early Childhood Curricu-
lum Te Whariki it explains in Communica-
tion Goal 4: “Children will experience an
environment in which they discover differ-
ent wats to be creative and expressive.
