WELCOME BACK!

ST. LOUIS DE MONTFORT CATHOLIC CHURCH

PROTOCOLS AS PUBLIC

SUNDAY MASSES RESUME

Public Sunday Masses resume the weekend of May 30th with several restrictions and guidelines in place. These restrictions and guidelines are laid out below, but these will evolve through phases in the months of June and July to ensure a safe environment. And, Mass will continue to be livestreamed from St. Louis de Montfort on Saturdays at 5pm for those who are uncomfortable attending Mass in public. • The Bishop has extended his dispensation from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass until August 15th. • Social distancing guidelines restrict the number of parishioners allowed in the Church. To offset this, we are offer-

ing concurrent Masses in Craig Willy Hall at 9:00am and 11:30am on Sunday mornings. • There will be only one entrance for Mass - the main entrance off Hague Rd. (under the carport)

• Ushers will assist individuals and families to ensure appropriate accommodation with social distancing (6 feet of space between individuals and families).

• Seating will be every other pew as marked with families allowed to sit together. Most pews can accommodate 4 individuals or two groups of 3-4.

• To maximize seating space, we ask that individuals (i.e., those not attending as a family) attend Mass in Craig Willy Hall until it is filled for the 9:00am and the 11:30am Masses.

• Face masks are required for all attendees. • For those who may not have a facemask, we will have some available at the church entrance.

• Hand sanitizer dispensers will be at the front doors so you can utilize them on entering and exiting church. • There will be no singing during this phase of the re-opening. • No books or materials in the pews, however, you may bring missals or prayer books from home. • Minimize use of restrooms. Water fountains will not be available. • Collection baskets will not be passed around during Mass, but they will be available at the designated entrance

doors, so you may place your tithe in as you enter or exit. • In accordance with the Bishop’s mandates, Holy Communion will be distributed after Mass has ended. The Bishop

asks that parishioners exit the church immediately after receiving the Blessed Sacrament of Holy Communion. • All parishioners are asked to receive Holy Communion in the hand. • For anyone who prefers to receive on the tongue, please wait until the end of Communion distribution to

come forward to receive. • Maintenance will clean the pews, high contact areas, and restrooms before and after every Mass. • Reconciliation begins June 6 (masks will be required and will take place behind screens and standing only) and is

available on an appointment-only basis until then. Call the parish office at 317-842-6778 to schedule an appoint-ment with Fr. Pat (ext. 230) or Fr. Travis (ext. 242).

SLDM MASS SCHEDULE WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

Saturday in the Church at 5pm and livestreamed

Sunday in the Church at 7:30am (designated for elderly and “higher risk”), 9am, 11:30am, and 5pm

Sunday in Craig Willy Hall at 9am and 11:30am • We encourage “higher risk” parishioners to stay home and participate in the livestreamed Mass available HERE. • We are designating the 7:30am Mass for the elderly and other “higher risk” parishioners. • We suggest that families with small children do not attend the 7:30am Mass.

As we end this month dedicated to Mary, I would like to share 10 reasons why the Rosary, a prayer intimately associated with Mary, is so powerful. These reasons were in a recent news-letter received from the Knights of Columbus. The Rosary is a powerful weapon against evil and these reasons will help you to use it fully. 1. It Engages Your Will. The human will is powerful because it is a sharing in God’s power. He gives us the will to choose to do good or to do evil — and that will, in and of itself, is a pow-erful weapon in the spiritual realm. That’s why Satan seeks to enslave us and incapacitate our will through addictions. When our will is joined with God’s will through prayer we literally tap into God’s own power source. 2. It is Physical. God has given us bodies and souls. Angels — and this includes demons — are purely spiritual creatures. They have no physical form and are therefore inferior to us. When we pray the Rosary we use our bodies. We hold the rosary beads with a crucifix. We adopt an intentionally physical posture for prayer — either walking, kneeling or sitting atten-tively. When we use the physical aspects of prayer we are using tools that we have and which Satan does not have. 3. It Engages our Linguistic Functions. God has not only given us bodies — he has given us physical speech. We have tongues to praise him. We have vocal chords and breath to speak and sing. Satan does not have the means of physical speech. Animals do not have physical speech. Humans do. Therefore, we should pray the Rosary out loud, moving our lips. 4. It Involves Our Imagination. The non-verbal part of our mind communicates through imagery. We not only think with language, but we think in pictures. Satan likes to captivate our imagination through sinful images communicated through the internet, television or any visual stimulus. He also wants our imagination to dwell in images that are destructive. When we meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary, we engage the mind in a positive and purifying way. 5. The Rosary Occupies the Language Facility. In order to allow the imagination to be properly cleansed through meditation it helps to switch into imagination mode. Unfortunately, our minds usually function in a linguistic mode — using speech and speech concepts to think through problems, think about the future, plan what comes next, etc. By praying the Rosary this channel of our mind is occupied and the doors can open to the imagination and the “sub-linguistic” parts of our being. 6. The Sub-Linguistic is Accessed. Much of our soul work takes place in the realm of emotions. Emotions are not linguistic nor are they imaginative. They are just raw emotions. We feel angry. We feel rage. We feel lust. We feel bliss. We feel peace. True emotions are irra-tional and unexplainable. The emotional area of the soul is also the area where we have our foundational experiences. In the mother’s womb and in the pre-linguistic stages of life we ex-perience life in an irrational and emotional way. As we pray the Rosary and the linguistic channel is occupied and the imaginative channel is occupied the Holy Spirit can access the sub-linguistic, deep down, raw experiences of our earliest days. If there are wounds and bad emo-tional memories, there Mother Mary can heal them. 7. The Healing Mysteries are Applied. As we pray the Rosary, the mysteries of Christ’s birth, ministry, passion and glory are opened and the Holy Spirit applies them to our own in-ner needs. Where there are impurities, they are purged. Where there are bad memories, they are healed. Where there are wounds, Doctor Jesus and Nurse Mary minister to our needs. 8. Spiritual Warfare is Engaged. Satan hates the Rosary. He hates Mary. He hates the gospel. He hates God. He hates Christ the Lord. He hates the Lord’s Prayer. He hates the Hail Mary. He hates you. Every time you pray the Rosary you are entering the territory that he wants to claim as his own. He wants control over your will — you take that from him. He wants control over your speech — you take that from him. He wants control over your imagination — you take that from him. He wants control over your emotions and your early life — you take that from him. 9. The Battle Against Evil in the Word in Opened. In many ways the mysteries of the gospel bring alive Christ’s victory over Satan, and by praying the Rosary we can apply those victories against Satan’s work in the world. 10. It is Accessible and Easy for All. The amazing thing about the Rosary is that God does this very deep healing work in individual lives and in the world in this most accessible and easy way. No need for long sessions of psychoanalysis or counseling for most people. Instead, ordinary people can simply pray the Rosary. All these good things happen even when they are unaware that these deep aspects of praying the Rosary are taking place. It doesn’t matter who — an old peasant woman or a smart college professor, a little child or a busy mom. All can pray the Rosary. - Bob Stephanak, Accounting Manager

Stewardship: Time, Talent & Treasure We Are Never Alone

My children want my help sometimes, and other times,

not so much. I remember being a teenager and young

adult myself. At times, I thought I knew everything. I did-

n’t need help because I was just so darn smart. Truth is, I

needed to find my own way. I needed to stretch my wings

and prove to myself and my family I could fly. I assume

that is what is happening with my own children as well. It

just seems so different now that I’m the parent.

Human beings need help. We need community, and we

need to rely on one another. At Pentecost, we reflect on

Jesus sending to the Church a helper, the Holy Spirit. God

interacting with us in this manner means we are never

truly alone. We focus most of the time on the Spirit of God

as the assistance we need, and we do need Him for sure.

However, since it is that very same Spirit that turned us

into “Church” from a band of people looking to carry on

after Jesus’ ascension, at Pentecost we gained more than

divine help: we gained each other.

Today, the Church needs help in a profound way. We need

to lean on the Holy Spirit to blow through the Church

with a profound renewal. But we cannot forget that we

have been given each other to lean on as well. We are a

gift to each other, and together with the Spirit’s help, we

are the Body of Christ here on earth. We must be strong

and stand for one another. If we do that, this Pentecost

will bear fruit that will be with us for many Pentecosts to

come.

One of the challenges we are facing now is the lack of food product on grocery store shelves. As you do your shopping if you could pick-up a few extra items and drop them off during pantry hours that would be greatly appreciated. For those that routinely give in the basket in the Nar-thex, again drop off during the pantry hours. Thank you.
