Working together as a community we can stop the spread of this new Delta variant of COVID-19 and maintain ongoing and uninterrupted teaching and learning for our students. The Department of Education has developed an easy reference document outlining the levelled advice for schools. We are currently at Level 2 restrictions, while schools in Greater Sydney are operating on Level 4 which has a much higher level of restrictions and Learning from Home. MPS has the following procedures in place: 1. Students are to be dropped off and picked up at the school gates. To help ease overcrowding on Albert Street, parents are reminded to physically distance themselves. 2. Parents are once again NOT to enter school grounds, this includes the Canteen. 3. All visitors on essential business only, as well as parents picking up sick children MUST come through the Administration Office. Sign in using the school QR code and wear a face mask. 4. Parents are asked to communicate to the school via telephone or email rather than coming to school in person as far as possible. 5. No parents at school assemblies. We will be moving forward with modified Assemblies, at which time awards will be presented. 6. No shared birthday/cupcakes at this time at school. 7. Music lessons will continue with a COVID Safety Plan in place. 8. At this point in time, the Year 4 excursion to Coffs Harbour is not going ahead. We will update parents IF we are able to reschedule. The Year 6 and Year 5 excursions are still planned to go ahead, but we will monitor NSW Health Advice and updated restrictions. 9. I would ask that parents remind their children about hand sanitising, hand washing regularly and coughing correctly. 10. Students who are sick with COVID-like symptoms must stay away from school (they will also be sent home from school) and have a negative COVID test and be symptom-free before coming back to school. Further advice can be found on the NSW Department of Education website. Parents and carers can refer to the advice for families page for additional information. Please ensure you notify the school if your child is experiencing COVID-like symptoms to ensure their absence is justified. I want to thank parents for their cooperation during this difficult period which has now been extended until 30 July. Once we are provided with further updates, we will pass them along as soon as possible. Stay safe! SAVE THE DATE: Friday 16 September & Saturday 17 September 2022 - Sesquicentenary (150th) celebration of Moree Public School. SKOOLBAG APP: We are still using MPS SkoolBag App but we are investigating other ways of making it easy for parents to make notifications of your child's absence. Please note that for an absence reason to be justified it needs to be sent to the school within 5 days with as much information as you are able to provide. For example; 'personal reasons' or 'late' is not a justified reason and it will be marked as unexplained. If your child is 'sick', could you please provide a few more details as we are under COVID restrictions and we are required to follow guidelines. Once we have more information about SkoolBag, we will update you REMINDER: If you are unable to get to school due to wet conditions and road closures, please contact the school and let us know.
