PUZZLINGDuring the next two weekswe will be solving and discussing multiplicationpuzzles.
WHY?
Multiplication is a necessary skill to solve real-life
situations. Being able to express your thinking in mathematics
is extremely important because it is how you buildoff one anothers ideas and how you learn.
Simply being able to do a problem does not showthat you are a master at it. Instead, being able to
explain and show someone else how to do it does.

Some of you need time to finish working on your problem, use
this time to do so. If you are already finished, it is important toreview concepts you already learned or just recently learned tohelp make connections between old and new information.
We get better in our own puzzling skills when we look athow other people solved the problem and compared it tohow we solved it.
Knowing and being able to use the different ways torespond respectfully in conversation is the next step inbeing able to have a successful discussion.
WHY? Discussing helps us build our own knowledge andunderstanding.
