Master of Education in Educational Leadership Degree Program Features

PRINCIPAL LICENSURE CCU’s M.Ed. in Educational Leadership is designed for experienced teachers, school administrators, and district personnel who seek to further their careers as academic leaders. This master's program is ideal for candidates with the desire to improve public or private K-12 education systems. Graduates who satisfactorily complete all requirements of the Master of Education in Educational Leadership licensure program, including a semester-long leadership internship, may apply to the Colorado Department of Education for a principal license. Licensure is granted through the Colorado Department of Education. Out of state candidates must seek reciprocity through their state's Department of Education.

Stand-alone Principal LicensureThe 27-credit-hour principal licensure-only track is designed for experienced teachers who are seeking a path to become licensed school principals without completing a graduate degree. The program prepares candidates to obtain a Colorado principal’s license and is designed to enhance expertise in governance, finance, law, leadership, and strategic planning.

NON-LICENSURE CCU’s M.Ed. in Educational Leadership non-licensure program seeks to develop innovative, collaborative, effective, and reflective leaders who will provide quality learning opportunities for a rapidly changing and increasingly diverse population — while improving the learning of all students within private settings such as Christian schools.

• The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership graduate program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

• To accommodate busy adult learners, this program is offered online, giving you the flexibility you need to complete your education.

• The program uses the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards, the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) Standards, and Colorado State Standards throughout the curriculum to address the core standards and dispositions necessary to promote best practices in the field.

• Graduates meet the requirements for certification by the Association of Christian Schools International.
