Educational Leadership (International) MBA /

The degree is for senior leaders in education fromsettings in all phases of educational provision orfrom a systemic level. It is suitable, therefore, fromeducators in pre-school settings to those workingat the tertiary level as well as those with a systemwide role.

 Degree summary 

This programme provides students the opportunity to develop as astrategic thinker, leader of learning and educational improvement, andmanager of resources, exploring important national and internationaldebates in and around educational reform, leadership, and teaching andlearning.

// The research and development work carried out by the Departmentof Learning and Leadership at the UCL Institute of Education (IOE)has an outstanding reputation. The department is at the forefront ofpromoting new knowledge for and about leadership, nationally, andinternationally.

// The department supports educational and public sector leadershipto improve the life chances of individuals and communities, workingin partnership with practitioners and policymakers at the criticaledge of research and practice.

// The Educational Leadership (International) MBA provides a fulloverview of contemporary education leadership issues. This includesfocusing on the role of schools within the wider community and howgovernmental policy makes its mark.

This programme is delivered through a combination of lectures,seminars, online materials and tutorial support involving module leadersand guest speakers. Assessment is through assignment submission andfinal dissertation. The programme is delivered through intensive two-daycontact periods and tutorial support can be offered in person, via Skypeor online.

Accreditation

The MBA has been revised recently so the learning outcomes arealigned to AMBA guidelines.

 Degree structure 

Mode: Part-time: 2 years; Flexible: up to 5 years

Location: London, Bloomsbury

The taught programme is organised in blocks for Fridays and Saturdays.For each module you would need to attend two blocks of teaching.

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. The programmeconsists of four core modules (120 credits), and a dissertation/report (60credits).

// The programme consists of four core modules plus dissertation.  Students with recentNPQH can claim recognition of prior learning plus a report instead of dissertation.

DISSERTATION/RESEARCH PROJECT

// Students undertake an independent research project which culminates in a dissertationof 20,000 words.

 Entry requirements 

A second-class UK Bachelor's degree from a UK university or anoverseas qualification of an equivalent standard, or equivalent seniorleadership experience. Applicants who have earned the NationalProfessional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) certificate within the lastfive years will gain 30 credits towards the MBA. All applicants must haverelevant professional experience.

English language proficiency level

If your education has not been conducted in the English language, youwill be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level ofEnglish proficiency.

The level of English language proficiency for this programme is: Good.
