York College is proud to introduce the first Master of Arts degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction. The 36 hour program received approval by the Higher Learning Commission and is included in the continuing NCATE accreditation.

The mission of the graduate program is to develop a master teacher who will:

• Have the ability to lead by example• Strive to understand oneself and collaborate

with others• Have the knowledge and skills to understand

and assess curriculum and instructional program or practice

• Stay informed relevant to research based curriculum and instruction modification

• Be able to conduct workshops relating to the planning of curriculum and instruction in his/her area of expertise

• Be transformed in curriculum and instruction for the good of all students.

Requirements and Application for Admission

i. Complete Graduate Program Application*ii. Submit a valid teaching certificateiii. Provide official transcripts indicating a

minimum of 3.25 undergraduate GPA iv. Send Graduate Record Exam scores to:

v. Prepare a short autobiographical statement (2-4) pages addressing your academic and professional interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses relating to the elements of the CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK: teacher, student, and curriculum and instruction.

vi. Request letters of recommendation from three people with whom you have recently worked or studied and who can speak to your ability to do graduate work.
