My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As Father Winkel announced this past Sunday, Corpus Christi Academy is a “GO!”

I want to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who worked so very hard to make this possible: our team, our parents and our children. A great deal of work has brought us to this point, and there will be much to do in the future. With the help of Almighty God and the cooperation of everyone involved, the new Academy will be a blessing for the people of our area.

We are currently in the process of searching for a principal for Corpus Christi Academy. Once this person is in place, interviews for the teaching faculty will begin. Please see our Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy’s website and click on the Corpus Christi tab to read more about these and other wonderful developments. And, above all, please keep the development of Corpus Christi Academy at the top of your prayer list.

My expressions of gratitude would be incomplete without mention of my thanks to those who participated in any way in this year’s Catholic Charities Appeal. Your generosity will help so many people who are in need. May your kindness to the hungry, the homeless and the needy be rewarded a hundredfold by Al-mighty God.

May God bless you all this Lenten Season, Father Ireland

Dear Parishioners, As was announced at Masses last weekend …

CORPUS CHRISTI ACADEMY WILL OPEN IN THE FALL!!

Yes, the merger will go through…. Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy and St. Clare School will become one. Thank you to all of our families who registered for this new, and exciting venture. Currently we have a total of 237 students. It was decided to move ahead with the merger plans. The principal search is the next step, followed by the selection of faculty and staff. Please read the ‘Corpus Christi Chat-ter’ for any recent updates. God bless all of us, and keep us in your prayers.

During Lent we pray for various illnesses and causes. This week we pray for those affected by blindness. Each morn-ing we pray to a Saint of mercy, and every Friday throughout Lent will be known as “Sweetless” Friday. No sweets will be served, nor eaten, in the Academy. Last Thursday was our first school Stations of the Cross directed by the 7th graders. This week’s Stations of the Cross will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Church.

Please keep the Academy and PSR second graders in your prayers as they prepare for their First Holy Communion. There is a very important meeting for parents of second graders on Wednesday, February 24 in the Church Hall. Both Miss Pozzuto and Fr. Ireland will address the parents that evening, beginning at 7 o’clock.
