Marxism

• Marxism is the antithesis of CAPITALISM which is defined as “an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and distribution of goods, characterized by a free competitive market and motivation by profit.”

• For Marx, capitalism is inherently exploitative. There is a conflict of interest because workers produce the wealth, but receive in wages only a fraction of the wealth (or ‘value’) they produce. This is exploitation.

• Marxism is the system of socialism of which the dominant feature is public ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange.

Marxsim

• Marx sees a capitalist society as a split society. Those who control or have power are called the bourgeoisie. Those who do not and who have to sell their labour for minimal pay and often no share of the profit are called the proletariat.

Conclusiobn

• At its simplest, Marxism is the opposite of capitalism. In capitalism, everyone tries to get as much for himself as you can. He who has the most toys wins. In communism, everyting is owned collectively, and each person works for and benefits from the good of the group.
