Event planning guide prepared by: Marketplace Simulations

Simulation Challenge: Program Summary Are you ready to put your entrepreneurship skills to the test? The Marketplace Simulation Challenge is the perfect opportunity to you and your classmates to do just that. As a part of BizLaunch Week, CEO chapters are invited to compete for a chance to win cash prizes, showcase your business skills, and bring some great visibility to your school! Student teams will compete in the Marketplace Simulation Challenge, starting and managing a global 3D printed carbon fiber bike company as a part of this exciting, fast-paced business simulation. You and your teammates will oversee every area of the company’s function, including marketing, sales, manufacturing, distribution, accounting and finance, and human resources. You will experiment with entrepreneurship strategies, launching new products to the market and managing the entire product life cycle, from introduction to growth to maturity. Teams will complete the first part of the simulation between Monday April 12th and Wednesday April 14th. All teams who complete these quarters will receive a Certificate of Completion, and the top 6 scoring teams will be invited to present to the company Board of Directors on Friday April 16th. In the Board presentation, the top 6 teams will review their company’s performance to their Board of Directors (or friendly but savvy university profs acting as the company’s Board), who will then rank the top teams according to the effectiveness of their presentations. The Board members will evaluate team presentations based on the accuracy, candidness, and depth of their analyses, as well as the overall quality and effectiveness of the presentation. Following the presentations to the Board, team results will be determined based on results of the cumulative balanced scorecard and the Board presentation.

The top three winning teams will receive cash prizes in the amount of $1000 for first place, $750 for second place, and $400 for third place.

We can’t wait to work with you to put your business learning into practice at the 2021 Marketplace Simulation Challenge!

How to Register: In order to participate in the Marketplace Simulation Challenge, you will first need to form a team. Connect with others in your campus CEO chapter, or if your campus does not have a CEO chapter, reach out to a few classmates to see who wants to team up!

Teams must have between 2 and 5 people to compete. It would be great for your team include a mix of different business majors, but if not, don’t sweat it.

After you have assembled your team, assign a team lead. The team lead will register each member of the team to participate in the challenge.

Visit https://www.c-e-o.org/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=1476941 and register each member of your team by April 5th at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
