Although Feb- ruary is a short month, it was packed with many exciting, fun-filled and educational events. They included: Boys and Girls Basketball, Rosary Apostolate, CWL Read- ing Program, junior trip to Harbourfront , W5H Divisional Competition. These events have made for a positive and invaluable learning experience for the students of Nativity of Our Lord School. Without the help of staff and parents these events would not be possible. Thank you for all your efforts, commitment and dedication to the students of Nativity of Our Lord School. March brings us to the Lenten season and thus, it is fitting that forgiveness is the vir- tue for the month of March. God is ever present when we reconcile with others and the world. Jesus becomes manifest in our willingness to forgive and be forgiven. “Lent invites us to turn from our own selves, from our sin, to come together in com- munity. Self-denial is the way we express our repentance. Self-denial is threefold, advises Matthew’s gospel, We pray: “Go to your room, close your door, and pray to your Father in private.” We fast: “No one must see you are fasting but your Father.” We give alms: “Keep your deeds of mercy secret, and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.” Through the Lenten exercise of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, we spring-clean our lives, sharpen our senses, put tomorrow in its place and treasure the day at hand ( Father Thomas Rosica, S.B.,C.E.O. Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation). As we move into the Lenten season, it is a time to reflect on Christ’s journey to the cross. As part of our faith, we remember Christ’s gift in the giving of His life in order that we might have eternal life. The Lenten season is a time of for- giveness, both for us to seek it, and to offer it to others. Finally, March 20 brings the first day of spring –warmer days are ahead and we have survived another winter season! Mr. M. Femia Junior W5H We are pleased to announce that on February 22nd, Nativity’s Junior W5H team participated in the 2016 Divisional Competition, where we placed first, and advanced to the Regional Round. Our congratulations and gratitude go to the following team members: Ryan Ebrahem, Morgan Geisl-Butler, Rosie Geisl-Butler, Declan Heim, Malina John, Antonio Lepore, Max Podkowa, Marco Riondino, and Yustyna Hankevych.
