RESPECT LIFE “Human life is good and to be protected. All medical decisions ought to reflect this core belief.”— “Advance Medical Directives: Planning for Your Future” Respect Life Program, USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities(http://bit.ly/AdvanceMedicalDirectives) Tradition teaches us Christ was conceived on the Feast of the Annunciation. We will watch the parallel development of “Joseph” in the womb beginning on March 25 (Feast of the Annunciation) until December 25. The Office of Human Life and Dignity is making available a series of bulletin messages describing the fetal development of “Joseph.” Each week we will send out the messages to the parishes. Please consider inserting these messages in the bulletin for the upcoming weeks and each week through December 25.

March 22 (week 1) - The Miracle of Life. At conception the gender of the child is determined by the father’s sperm. We are going to name this tiny new human being “Joseph.” Joseph has not yet implanted into the wall of the uterus so no one but God knows of his existence. God has known us and loved us from all eternity. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,” Jer. 1: 5 Prayer for Priests by St. Therese de Lisieux O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep you priest, Fr. (name the priest), within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where none may touch him. Keep unstained his anointed hands, which daily touch Your Sacred Body. Keep unsullied his lips, daily purpled with Your Precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly his heart sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood. Let Your holy love surround him and shield him from the world's contagion. Bless his labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom he ministers be his joy and consolation here and in heaven his

beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen. Please review the information on the Parish Council elections you received. We look forward to receiving your nominations for candidates for the Council. Completed nominations may be put in the collection basket or given to one of the greeters. Thank you for participating in this important process. -- Blessings from the Election Committee

From the Desk of the Historian Tribute to Angelene Dixon This weekend we celebrate the life of Mrs. Angelene Dixon, one of the founding members of Transfiguration of Jesus Catholic Church. Not only was she instrumental in raising money for the construction of our sanctuary in 1964-65, Mrs. Dixon worked tirelessly with the children of the parish teaching faith formation classes. She wrote a marvelous history of the early days of our parish, a copy of which is on the bookshelf in the parish hall. She was the inspiration of our history program. She was devoted to our church and to our God. In her later years, her mobility was limited by crippling arthritis but her faith never wavered. May she rest in peace with our Heavenly Father. Prison Ministry: We have started a new prison ministry at Sampson Correctional Institute. We take the face of Christ to the

men of this institution on the first Thursday and the third Wednesday of the month. If

you would like to answer Christ's call to visit him in prison contact Deacon Mike. Men and women are welcome. Safe Environment Huck Booz and Fran Braks will be a conducting a Safe Environment Training Session on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. It is a two hour classes that will be held at 6:00 in the Church Hall. Please consider taking this training class to help ensure that our children live in a safe and secure environment. If you plan on taking this course, please e-mail either Huck at [email protected] or Fran at [email protected].

Our next Lighthouse Discussion Group Meeting will be held on Monday evening, April 13th at 5:30 PM in the Church Hall.

By popular demand, we will again be discussing the CD Confession by Fr. Larry

Richards. This CD has become the #1 talk in North America dealing with one of the Catholic Faith's most misunderstood Sacraments. Fr. Rock is also going to explain to us how to make a good confession. A pot luck supper will follow. Transfiguration Prayer Tree- At the initiation of the Prayer Tree group we will begin holding a weekly prayer service (the Liturgy of the Hours) at 6 PM in the church followed by a brief communion service. This entire service will run approximately a half hour (6 - 6:30) each Tuesday evening officiated by Deacon Mike VanDiver. These services will begin on Tuesday, April 14th. This service is open to all parishioners.

Faith Formation: An exciting year of Faith Formation is coming to an end. Almost forty students attended the program. We are now finishing up the curriculum and preparing for receiving the sacraments. The dates for the end of the year activities have been finalized. Godparent’s preparation class will be held on Sunday, April 12th at 3:00. Baptism, for those students who have not received the sacrament, will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 6:15pm. All students enrolled in the religious education program will attend the celebration of Baptism. Reconciliation will be held during a full day retreat on Saturday April 25th. The day will begin at 9:00am in the Church Hall with a scripture reading. Father Roch will hear the children’s first confession following a prayer service in the Church. The rest of the day will be spent with activities preparing the students for their new role in the Church. We will all share in lunch together. May Crowning will be held Saturday, May 2nd at the 7:00pm Mass and Sunday, May 3rd at the 8:30 Mass. The statue of Mary will be crowned by the students in the Religious Education Program. First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, May 10th at the 11:00 Mass and Sunday, May 31st at the 11:00 Mass. Parents will be choosing which date they prefer. Please mark your calendars. All parishioners are invited to any or all of these celebrations to help welcome these young people in the next step in their growing commitment to God. Doorways to Formation in the Faith NEW COURSE -- CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING This course presents a theological foundation in Catholic Social Teaching.
