Sacraments
Baptism: Parents must attend 2 preparation classes prior to having your child baptized. Please schedule an appointment with Father Roch or with Deacon Mike to discuss this procedure.
Marriage: The marriage preparation program for the Diocese of Raleigh takes six months. Call the parish office to schedule an appointment with Father Roch.
Sacrament of Penance: Thursday after Mass, Saturday before Mass or by appointment.
Anointing of the Sick: Please call Father Roch if anyone is in need of this sacrament

Thank you for participating in this important process. -- Blessings from the Election Committee Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken, but not to equal a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. Stations of the Cross will be through the Lenten season at 630pm on Fridays in the Church.
Easter Bunnies: Volunteers are needed for assisting the Easter Egg Hunt on April 5th. This is an Easter event that families look forward to every year. Please see Julie Couch

Easter Sunday Mass will be at 8:30 am. It will be followed by the Easter Egg Hunt and a continental style breakfast (pastries, donuts, deviled eggs, coffee, tea, etc.). We hope that you will join us on this Special holiday and bring a special treat to share with our parish family. Flowers: We are accepting flower donations for Easter. If you would like to bring white flowers on Holy Saturday between 12pm-3pm at the Church. We will be decorating and preparing for Easter Sunday Sacrament of Reconciliation Services in the Diocese of Raleigh Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the sacred season of Lent, a season rich in sacramentals and devotions which are at the heart of our Catholic practice. These devotions take our attention away from the world, as we focus on the Lenten disciplines of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Schedule of Sacrament of Reconciliation in the Diocese: 3/23 Wallace Transfiguration @ 7pm More places and dates found on the Diocese of Raleigh website. 2015 Holy Week Schedule Palm Sunday, March 28 & 29, 2015: Regular Mass Times. Please assemble in back parking lot for the Blessing of the palms and procession into Church. In case of inclement weather we will meet in the Church Hall. Holy Thursday, April 2, 2015: Mass at 6:30pm. Adoration will follow the transfer of the Holy Eucharist to the Church Hall from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. Bilingual Good Friday, April 3, 2015: 3:00pm. The Passion of the Lord and Veneration of the Cross. Wallace Good Friday Procession will start at noon at the Wallace United Methodist Church, Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matthew 26:36-43. Transfiguration of Jesus Catholic Church will be the second station, Jesus is betrayed by Judas and arrested, Matthew 26:44-56. There will be a brief scripture, meditation and prayer at each of the fourteen stops. A map and listing of the other stops will be provided. Easter Vigil, April 4, 2015: 8:00pm. Welcome Newcomers: During the past several months we have had several individuals register with our congregation. From the Desk of the Historian In Memoriam: Many of us remember Sister Irene Breslin, SU, who passed away this week in New York. She served Transfiguration from early in the 2000's to 2005. In addition to her responsibilities living a consecrated life, Sister Irene was an educator. A graduate of Fordham University, she taught high school in New York and was principal of St. Gregory the Great in Milwaukee before going to Rome where she was instrumental in persuading Pope Pius XI(I of the need for a graduate level seminary for religious women. Regina Mundi was thus founded and Sister Irene served for six years as its president. Sister Irene also served in Africa for 10 years and is author of Anne Xainctonge, her life and Spirituality, a Biography of the founder of the Society of St. Ursula (SU). Parishioners of Transfiguration who knew this kind, gentle person are saddened by her passing. Anyone wishing to read more about Sister Irene's life may visit www.legacy.com. In lieu of flowers, the Sisters of Ursula request that donations in Sister Irene's memory be sent to Sisters of Ursula Spiritual Center, 50 Linwood Road, Rheinbeck, New York, 12572. Cards of condolence may also be sent to that address. From the Desk of the Historian: Many of us remember Sister Marion McGillicuddy, SU, who served our parish from early in the millennium until 2005. On March 24 she will celebrate (change tense if this is next week) her 90th birthday. Sister Marion is one of the longest serving nuns in the Diocese. Daughter of Irish immigrants, she has dedicated her life to the education and advocacy for children of immigrants trying to assimilate into American culture and society. Prior to coming to Transfiguration she taught in 15 different schools in NY, Colombia, and Rome. She also established and taught in two schools in Wisconsin and Rhode Island. Prison Ministry: We have started a new prison ministry at Sampson Correctional Institute. We take the face of Christ to the
men of this institution on the first Thursday and the third Wednesday of the month. If
you would like to answer Christ's call to visit him in prison contact Deacon Mike. Men and women are welcome. Safe Environment Huck Booz and Fran Braks will be a conducting a Safe Environment Training Session on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. It is a two hour classes that will be held at 6:00 in the Church Hall. Please consider taking this training class to help ensure that our children live in a safe and secure environment. Our next Lighthouse Discussion Group Meeting will be held on Monday evening, April 13th at 5:30 PM in the Church Hall.
By popular demand, we will again be discussing the CD Confession by Fr. Larry
Richards. This CD has become the #1 talk in North America dealing with one of the Catholic Faith's most misunderstood Sacraments. Fr. Rock is also going to explain to us how to make a good confession. A pot luck supper will follow. Transfiguration Prayer Tree Meeting- The Transfiguration Prayer Tree group will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 25th from 3 - 4:30 in the parish hall. This meeting is open to all existing Prayer Tree members and to anyone wishing to join this important ministry. The goal of this ministry is simply to provide prayers of immediate and serious need for any parishioner or anyone known to one of our parishioners. Father Roch will be joining us for this meeting. We will discuss our prayer ministry and share our experiences as well as the power and need for prayer. If you are interested in joining this ministry or attending this meeting please contact Cheryl Partyka (285-6661). Light refreshments will be served. Faith Formation: An exciting year of Faith Formation is coming to an end. Almost forty students attended the program. We are now finishing up the curriculum and preparing for receiving the sacraments. The dates for the end of the year activities have been finalized. Julie Couch’s class will be helping to clean up the outside of the Church in preparation for Easter. This will take place on Sunday, March 22nd after the 8:30 Mass. All Religious Education students are welcome to join in the activity. Godparent’s preparation class will be held on Sunday, April 12th at 3:00. Baptism, for those students who have not received the sacrament, will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 6:15pm. All students enrolled in the religious education program will attend the celebration of Baptism. Reconciliation will be held during a full day retreat on Saturday April 25th. The day will begin at 9:00am in the Church Hall with a scripture reading. Father Roch will hear the children’s first confession following a prayer service in the Church. The rest of the day will be spent with activities preparing the students for their new role in the Church. We will all share in lunch together. May Crowning will be held Saturday, May 2nd at the 7:00pm Mass and Sunday, May 3rd at the 8:30 Mass. The statue of Mary will be crowned by the students in the Religious Education Program. First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, May 10th at the 11:00 Mass and Sunday, May 31st at the 11:00 Mass. Parents will be choosing which date they prefer. Please mark your calendars. All parishioners are invited to any or all of these celebrations to help welcome these young people in the next step in their growing commitment to God.
