What, where & whyWhat is the organics service? As part of your Council Kerbside Collection, a third green lidded bin will be introduced for the collection of food and garden organics.

You will also receive a kitchen caddy and a roll of compostable liners to help neatly gather your household food scraps before placing them in the green lidded organics bin.

What do I do with the kitchen caddy and compostable liners? The Kitchen Caddy and compostable liners will be delivered to you with your FOGO bin prior to the service beginning in your collection area.

These will help you sort the organic waste in your home. We suggest that the caddy with a compostable liner inside is placed on the kitchen bench or under the kitchen sink so you can scrape your scraps straight from the chopping board or the plate into it – how easy is that?

How muchwaste canwe save? The average garbagebin in Warrnamboolcontains:

Will my bin collections change? No. Your garbage collection will remain weekly and your FOGO and recycling collection will occur on alternate weeks.

I already compost, what can the FOGO bin do for me?If you’re already composting, you know the benefits of compost or castings from a worm farm.

The FOGO bin will complement what you are already doing by taking items that worms don’t eat or are hard to compost. The system allows you to also compost meat, seafood, bones, citrus fruits, cooked food, oils, fats, pet

waste, diseased plants, weeds, excess garden waste.

Why is council looking to introduce the FOGO service?• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions• Reduce disposal to landfill costs• Produce compost fot use in agriculture
