Indiscipline among students is one of the major problems faced by schools today. Gangsterism in particular has become a menace due to its violent nature. Gangsterism involves bullying, extortion and even physical assault. Indiscipline among students is one of the major problems faced by schools today. Gangsterism in particular has become a menace due to its violent nature. Gangsterism involves bullying, extortion and even physical assault. The victims are mainly fellow students and there have been a few cases in the Philippines where the act of bullying and assault had been fatal.

If I am the discipline teacher, I would first undertake to study the extent of the problem in my school as well as the reasons why students would get involved in gangsterism. I would then haul the bullies and suspected gangsters in the school to determine further the reasons behind their individual behavior.

Statistics and studies on gangsterism indicate most student gangsters hail from poor backgrounds or broken families whereby they lack attention and love from the family members propelling them to behave in such a manner. Poor students become gangsters as a means to gain extra cash by extorting money from other students. Those who are a product of broken families normally indulge in these kind activities to seek attention and as a outlet for their frustration and unhappiness.

Thus, by engaging in a discussion with these gangster students from my school, I would be able to find out which category they belong to. I would then proceed to advise them on the dangers of their behavior which could land them in jail or in correctional institute for juvenile delinquents. If this method does not work, I would then engage the assistance of inspectors from the local police station to give regular talks at our school on why gangsterism is a crime and the penalties faced by the perpetrators.

A school-wide campaign would follow suit on how students and teachers can tackle the problems of gangsterism. the campaign would involve talks by former gangsters and reformed criminals who resorted to bullying and violence to achieve their goals and how that in turn has affected their lives and their families. Students would then be required to take a pledge not to resort to such behavior even if they face severe pressures from other students or as an easy way to make money from others.

Instead of caning or punishing gangsters, I would counsel them and use the soft-handed approach. These facing financial troubles who resort to extortion as a solution would be given assistance pending their promise not to repeat such behavior. These who engage in gangsterism to seek attention would be sent for professional counseling. Students facing constant pressure to become part of gangs, would be exposed tot he dangers of such behavior and encouraged to report, without fearing for their lives, to the school authorities. I would collaborate with the other teachers to expose students to fun-filled activities and outdoor learning experience to make school a more exciting place. This would prevent bored students from contemplating joining a gangster group to seek excitement and acceptance.

Thus, I hope with all these measures in place, the problem of gangsterism would be dealt with effectively and efficiently.

Solutions on how to solve gangsterism (aiming at students)In order to solve a social issue like gangsterism, one has to get to the root of the problem. Many gangsters started out by being victims of other gangsters or just by being awed by the press and other medias that glorified the lives of gangsters. Undertaking a study to the extent of the problem as well as the reasons why people would get involved in gangsterism world further determine the reasons behind the individuals’ behavior and actions. By engaging in a discussion with these gangsters, one would be able to find out which category they belong to and their common patterns. We can then proceed to advise them on the dangers of their behavior which could land them in jail or in correctional institute for juvenile delinquents. Moreover, we should also state how their actions could affect everybody around them, especially their friends and family. If we want to prevent more people to resist joining gangs, we should seek the assistance of the authorities from local police stations to give regular talks on why gangsterism is a crime, the penalties faced by the perpetrators and what are the effects of such activity, focusing more on reasoning with the people rather than using scare tactics to prevent them from getting involved in gangsterism.Instead of caning or punishing students who have become gangsters, one should counsel them and use a softer approach. Those facing financial troubles that resort to extortion as a solution would be given assistance pending their promise not to repeat such behavior. These who engage in gangsterism to seek attention would be sent for professional counseling. Students facing constant pressure to become part of gangs would be exposed to the dangers of such behavior and encouraged to report, without fearing for their lives, to the school authorities. Collaborating with other teachers to expose students to fun-filled activities and outdoor learning experience to make school..

Childhood is a very critical age and it is the responsibility of teachers, parents and school to pay full attention on children especially in this age as this age will form the base of their whole life. So a check is required at this age.

n the recent years, school safety has become one of the major issues to deeply concern about. The incidents of weapon possession, shooting, gang wars and sexual harassments are increasing day by day. There is no use of making each other accountable after someone willingly or reluctantly executes a tragic event. Life is precious and everyone must understand this.

We cannot blame the law as it is performing its part in the most appropriate fashion. In order to prevent school violence all we’re required is an active participation of school administrators, students, teachers, parents, government, and law enforcement and of course, the community at large.

Last year, an ill-fated incident took place outside a Seattle high school when a student was gunned down with a gang related drive-by. The case was challenging in its own because it was not anyhow related with the education law. It was a merciless example of cold-blooded murder and was clearly indicating how the high school and college campuses are becoming an appropriate hub for gangsters. The case was reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court itself and raised the issue of school safety countrywide.

Recently, the Supreme Court of the United States has provided an arrangement concerning to the possession of handgun. From the last several years, the handgun ownership within the province of Washington D.C. becomes one of the major subjects for debate. During the case, Justice John Paul Stevens asked that the court requires some strong reasons and arguments in order to carry the broad prohibition. In reply, the public prosecutor supported his arguments with some shocking data. He submitted a detailed report supported by the Chicago board of education.

According to the report, a year prior to the case 29 students had been shot dead by others using the domestic weapon with formal license. And within the next 4 months 8 more students were killed. All these killings took place due to the breaching of domestic firearms related laws.

The Supreme Court thoroughly agreed with all the facts as well as the related arguments. Eventually, the court passed some of the legal arrangements in order to curb such forms of legal violations.

Besides providing some of the major legal enforcements it was also important to teach lessons to those who took the law in their own hands and took innocent lives. All the accused involved in various school shooting incidences were charged with various legal acts including that for murder, attempt of murder, threatening and assault, promoting panic and endangerment and various other appropriate criminal offenses.

Besides rewarding the criminals with various sentences, the U.S. Supreme Court also charged some of the major accused with various legal violation penalties. Such forms of penalties are normally prosecuted in the cases of civil damages and also on the account of wrongful death.

So, no one can claim that law is not playing its part. But it cannot work in the benefit of society until and unless everyone stand against injustice and support law fully.

Cara-cara Mengatasi Kesesakan Lalulintas

Page 4: Major Problems Faced by Schools Today
