E. Measurement and Evaluation: The instructional technology goals of this plan will be measured in multiple ways:

The instructional technology specialists track the training they are providing in the district. This includes building, grade/department, origin of request and the technology goal this is tied to. The data is available to view real-time in a dashboard.

An annual climate survey is administered to staff, students and parents. Part of this survey focuses on technology access and use in the classroom.

BrightBytes Learning and Technology survey is administered annually in June to staff and students in grades 3 - 12. This tool was built from a research-based framework that informs the data analytics used to measure the impact of technology on learning outcomes across 4 domains:

IV. NYSED Initiatives Alignment

A. Use of Instructional Technology to Support Students

Instructional technology provides for a wider range of learning experiences including those offered beyond traditional classroom settings. The district will focus their efforts on implementing these new experiences into teachers’ daily instructional practices to improve the overall performance of every student. Instructional technology will be used to increase student engagement, address different learning styles, differentiate

and adjust pacing of lessons, and assess mastery of student learning standards. Data from assessments will allow

teachers to provide immediate direct/targeted instruction on standards that students have been previously

unsuccessful at, address any achievement gaps, and offer necessary remediation to students in a timely manner.

In addition, instructional technology will offer opportunities for teachers to challenge students who have achieved

mastery and match further lessons with their instructional level, interest areas, and experiences. Instructional

technology will offer students numerous options to access instructional resources that promote advance thinking skills

and application of learning in more authentic situations. Students will be allowed to take electronic devices home to

further personalize their learning and have access to a variety of resources outside of the school day.

District efforts will focus on attainment of academic standards and improved student performance with the ultimate

goal being all students will feel successful and empowered to be lifelong learners.

B. Use of Instructional Technology to Support Students with Disabilities

Technology promotes independence for our students with disabilities. For those that need tests read, we are able to

have students use applications that allow them to have the text read to them. They have the freedom to access this

information at any time, and to have it repeated as many times as necessary. In addition, we have applications that

allow students that struggle with fine motor skills to dictate their responses to the computer. This allows students to

effectively share their understanding of literature and content knowledge, without having their disability impact their

performance.

There are also content specific web-sites and software available to support students with reinforcing basic skills, as well

as enriching learning experiences. These tools help teachers progress monitor students’ growth and isolate specific skill

deficits in need of remediation. Technology has broadened the school day and allowed students to flexibly use their

time to review and refine skills.

19

C. Equitable Instructional and Assistive Technology for Students with Disabilities

The District will utilize technology to address the needs of Students with Disabilities to ensure equitable access to

instruction, materials, and assessments:

Class lesson plans, materials, and assignment instructions are available to students and families for “anytime, anywhere” access (such as through class website or learning management system).

Direct instruction is recorded and provided for students to access asynchronously (such as through a learning management system or private online video channel).

Technology is used to provide additional ways to access key content, such as providing videos or other visuals to supplement verbal or written instruction or content.

Text to speech and/or speech to text software is utilized to provide increased support for comprehension of written or verbal language.

Assistive technology is utilized as specified on a student’s IEP. Technology is used to increase options for students to demonstrate knowledge and skill. Learning games and other interactive software are used to supplement instruction.

D. Professional Learning Plan for Teachers Supporting Students with Disabilities

Professional Development sessions are offered to Teachers of Students with Disabilities enabling them to differentiate

learning, increase student language, and improve content area learning including:

Technology to support writers in the elementary and secondary classrooms Research, writing and technology in a digital world Enhancing children's vocabulary development with technology Reading strategies through technology for students with disabilities Choosing assistive technology for instructional purposes in the special education classroom Using technology to differentiate instruction in the special education classroom Using technology to increase options for students with disabilities to demonstrate their knowledge and

skills Multiple ways of assessing student learning through technology Electronic communication and collaboration Promotion of model digital citizenship and responsibility Integrating technology and curriculum across core content areas Helping students with disabilities to connect with the world

E. Use of Instructional Technology to Support English Language Learners/Multilingual Learners

The district utilizes technology to address the needs of English Language Learners/Multilingual Learners to ensure

equitable access to instruction, materials, and assessments:

Class lesson plans, materials, and assignment instructions are available to students and families for “anytime, anywhere” access (such as through class website or learning management system).

Direct instruction is recorded and provided for students to access asynchronously (such as through a learning management system or private online video channel).

Technology is used to provide additional ways to access key content, such as providing videos or other visuals to supplement verbal or written instruction or content.

Text to speech and/or speech to text software is utilized to provide increased support for comprehension of written or verbal language.

Home language dictionaries and translation programs are provided through technology. Hardware that supports ELL/MLL student learning, such as home-language keyboards, translation pens,

and/or interactive whiteboards, is utilized. Technology is used to increase options for students to demonstrate knowledge and skill, such as through

the creation of a product or recording of an oral response. Learning games and other interactive software are used to supplement instruction.

F. Technology Plan Addressing ELL/ML Students
