MAHATMA EDUCTAION SOCIETY’S Pillai College of Engineering, New Panvel 1 NAAC Approved National Level Webinar on “Assessment and Accreditation process of NAAC” A One Day NAAC Approved National Level Webinar on “Assessment and Accreditation process of NAAC” was organised by IQAC, Pillai College of Engineering, New Panvel on 28 th August, 2020. Inauguration function was graced by Chief Guest Prof. R. D. Kulkarni, Hon'ble Pro Vice- Chancellor, University of Mumbai and Guest of Honour Dr Ganesh Anant Hegde, Adviser, NAAC. The resource persons for the session were, Dr. Ganesh Anant Hegde, Dr. Leena Govind Gahane, Dr. A V Prasad and Dr. N. R. Mohan. In session 1A Dr. Ganesh Anant Hegde, Adviser, NAAC has talked about Understanding NAAC A & A process and Paradigm shift in teaching and learning after post pandemic. Session 1B was delivered by Prof. Dr. Leena Govind Gahane, Deputy Adviser, NAAC. Madam has given insights of the role of IQAC in Enhancing & Maintaining Quality in higher education. The resource person for post lunch Session 2A was Dr. A V Prasad, Assistant Adviser, NAAC. Dr Prasad has discussed in detail about the parameters of an effective DVV process. Last session 2B was conducted by Dr. N. R. Mohan, Assistant Adviser, and it was about importance of preparation and submission of AQAR & FAQ. Valedictory function was graced by the presence of Dr Priam Pillai, COO, Mahatma Education Society. The Chief Guest for the fuction was Dr. Suresh Ukarande, Associate Dean, Faculty of Science & Technology, University of Mumbai. He shared his view on NAAC Accreditation process and responsibility of a teacher during content delivery in post pandemic era. Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. Leena Govind Gahane, elaborated the responsibility and contribution of a teacher in the overall development of the students and making them a good citizen. 1200+ participants from all over India attended the webinar through Zoom meet and MES YouTube Channel. All the participants have actively participated in all the sessions. We have received very positive responses and pleasing comments in feedback. IQAC PCE would like to thank NAAC for accepting our proposal to conduct national level webinar on “Assessment and Accreditation Process of NAAC” and given us a chance to organise the same. IQAC PCE is also thankful to the Management board of MES for their constant support and motivation for organising this event. NAAC Approved National Level Webinar on

“Assessment and Accreditation process of NAAC”

A One Day NAAC Approved National Level Webinar on “Assessment and Accreditation process

of NAAC” was organised by IQAC, Pillai College of Engineering, New Panvel on 28th August,

2020. Inauguration function was graced by Chief Guest Prof. R. D. Kulkarni, Hon'ble Pro Vice-

Chancellor, University of Mumbai and Guest of Honour Dr Ganesh Anant Hegde, Adviser,

NAAC.

The resource persons for the session were, Dr. Ganesh Anant Hegde, Dr. Leena Govind Gahane,

Dr. A V Prasad and Dr. N. R. Mohan.

In session 1A Dr. Ganesh Anant Hegde, Adviser, NAAC has talked about Understanding NAAC

A & A process and Paradigm shift in teaching and learning after post pandemic. Session 1B was

delivered by Prof. Dr. Leena Govind Gahane, Deputy Adviser, NAAC. Madam has given insights

of the role of IQAC in Enhancing & Maintaining Quality in higher education.

Prasad has discussed in detail about the parameters of an effective DVV process. Last session 2B

was conducted by Dr. N. R. Mohan, Assistant Adviser, and it was about importance of preparation

and submission of AQAR & FAQ.

Valedictory function was graced by the presence of Dr Priam Pillai, COO, Mahatma Education

Society. The Chief Guest for the fuction was Dr. Suresh Ukarande, Associate Dean, Faculty of

Science & Technology, University of Mumbai. He shared his view on NAAC Accreditation

process and responsibility of a teacher during content delivery in post pandemic era. Guest of

Honour, Prof. Dr. Leena Govind Gahane, elaborated the responsibility and contribution of a

teacher in the overall development of the students and making them a good citizen.

1200+ participants from all over India attended the webinar through Zoom meet and MES

YouTube Channel. All the participants have actively participated in all the sessions. We have

received very positive responses and pleasing comments in feedback.

IQAC PCE would like to thank NAAC for accepting our proposal to conduct national level

webinar on “Assessment and Accreditation Process of NAAC” and given us a chance to organise

the same.

IQAC PCE is also thankful to the Management board of MES for their constant support and

Profiles of Resource Persons:

Dr. Ganesh Anant Hegde, Adviser, NAAC Bangalore is an expert academician in the

assessment and accreditation arena in the Country today. He has been at the helm of affairs at the

country’s top assessment body, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, for more than

two decades now in several

capacities. He is keenly involved in

the framing of assessment framework

of NAAC for the last two decades and

has to his credit the niche expertise of

assessing and accrediting more than

1400 Institutions of Higher Learning

across the Country. In addition to

this, he has involved himself

profusely in designing and

conceptualizing assessment manuals

in specialized areas like health,

teacher education, guidelines,

publications etc. He holds a Doctorate degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the

University of Mysore.

True to his spirit, Dr. Hegde has organized several workshops for Principals and Faculty members

for undergoing the process of Accreditation. He has conducted several assessors training

programmes at NAAC for Vice Chancellors, Professors and Principals all over the country for

training prospective NAAC Peer Team Experts. In addition, he has co-ordinated the review of 66

Academic Staff Colleges of UGC and submitted a report. He has been instrumental bringing out

the Internal Quality Assurance Guidelines and other Publications.

Dr. Hegde has equally contributed his professional prowess in the International Arena as well. He

has participated and contributed to National and Inter-National Seminars on Higher Education,

Assessment and Accreditation, Internal Quality Assurance System, Quality in Teacher Education,

Best Practices and APQN online discussion so on. He has also participated and conducted training

programme for Assessors abroad. He has been Board of Directors for International Network

of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) from 2013-15, whichis a

world-wide association of over 200 organizations of Quality Assurance Agencies. Dr Hegde

belongs to a rare breed of Educationists endowed with a vision to make quality and excellence the

motto of Higher Educational Institutions in India.

Before joining NAAC, he served as the publication Executive in the Department of Science and

Technology, Vigyan Prasar, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Dr. Ganesh A. Hegde has authored two

books one is on Information, Communication Technology and Higher Education and another one

is Seven Action Points for IQAC. He has also co-authored two books for NAAC one is on Best

Practices of IQAC and other is State wise Analysis of Punjab.

Prof. Dr. Leena Govind Gahane, Deputy Adviser, NAAC is Professor in Physics with teaching

experience for 20 years and worked as Dean Academics at ACET Nagpur.

She has worked as member of Board of studies and is also Ph.D supervisor of RTMNU, Nagpur

University.

Her area of interest is Superconductivity in reference to physical world as well as human life and

nano-fluids. She has published many articles in National and international journals.

She has delivered more than 640 lectures on many

National, Social, Technical issues on academic,

social & organizational platforms and chaired the

sessions in National and International conferences.

A top academician, patriot and well known

personality of National stature.

A well known freelance writer and she has written

almost 1000 articles/poems on many current issue in

news paper, magazines and on social media in Hindi,

Marathi and English. A electronic media panelist,

raising female and social issues on TV channels.

Member of many professional bodies and social

organization like Rashtra Sevika Samiti. She is H.R

Trainer for many sectors KTC, PWD, Irrigation

Dept. and many more. She has worked as National study team member of unique study done on

‘Status of Women in India’ in 2019 and has an opportunity to discuss findings of this study with

Hon’ble President of Bharat.

Dr. A V Prasad, Assistant Adviser, NAAC, is working as Assistant Adviser in National

Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bengaluru.

A post graduate from the faculty

of Statistics from Sri

Venkateswara University,

Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, Dr.

Prasad has completed his

Doctorate degree in Statistics,

received Gold Medal and several

other prizes also. During his

research programme he has been

awarded the DST-INSPIRE

fellow and published 8 international research papers. He has also published several papers in

National and International journals for the last six years. He joined the NAAC in the year 2017

and has three years of experience in Assessment and Accreditation process. Dr. Prasad has

coordinated more than 190 Colleges for Accreditation.

With his rich experience in Statistics he has extensively used the NAAC data for fine tuning the

revised accreditation methodology of NAAC. He is one of the officers who is coordinating the

states for Western Region comprising Goa, Guajarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Dr. N. R. Mohan, Assistant Adviser, NAAC, is working as Assistant Adviser in National

Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bengaluru.

Dr Mohan has more than 10 years of Industrial and

research experience, skilled in Spectroscopy, UV/ Vis

Spectroscopy, Organic Retro-Synthesis, Molecular

modelling.

Dr. N R Mohan has strong education professional with

a Doctor of Philosophy focused in Synthetic Organic

Chemistry from Tumkur University and industrial scale

up process in flavours and fragrance field.

Dr. N R Mohan is an Academician and Researcher with

more than 7 years of Teaching, and 10 years of

Industrial and Research Experience. Published more

than 35 (Thirty-Five) Research Articles and 01 (One)

Book in Peer-reviewed International Journals and

International Publisher in the field of Synthesis,

Characterization, Crystallographic, Pharmacological

studies and of Heterocyclic Compounds and Organic

ligand-based metals.
