Our 950 Studio collection features Silver 950. The silver elements are added in Peru. We use a purer silver, with a 95% of silver and 5 percent of cooper (in comparison to Sterling, which is 92.5% silver)

Our Exotic Woods

We work with four different types of wood: Rosewood (Dalbergia retusa) Is a very beautiful wood, ranging from a beautiful rich dark brick red, to reddish or dark brown, with a figuring of darker irregular traces weaving through the wood. It is fine tex-tured and oily in look and feel. Rum-Rum (Astronium graveolens) It has a tan yellowish color. This timber figure is very attractive, with brown-dark or black vertical lines, narrow to wide with irregular space. Cortex (Tabebuia Chrysantha) Its heartwood is light to dark olive brown, often with attractive lighter or darker striping and striking contrasts with the lighter color sapwood. It has a fine texture medium luster and a somewhat oily appearance. Purple Heart (Amaranth Peltogyne spp) One of the most distinctive woods in the world. It is prized for its very unusual deep purple

color. When freshly cut, this dense hardwood is light brown. Within minutes the surface

turns an astonishing bright purple. This beautiful wood is straight to wavy grained.

All our products are available in any of the four types of wood above, or in a combination of all of them.

Alexandra, native of Costa Rica, grew up learning to love, appreci-ate and care for Nature. With a teaching background, she always showed an inclination to the arts and crafts. Her natural ability to create beautiful things out of thin air lead her to experiment in jew-elry design. She started out with gemstones, but gradually moved to what have surrounded her all her life, the rainforest and its incredible exotic woods.

Opportunities Wood has traditionally been appreciated for its beauty in much type of products, yet this beauty was not fully available in jewelry and accessories in general. Madera is bringing a new product to the market that, for the first time, uses exotic woods for the whole collection, in styles that matches the trends of the fashion jewelry industry. With all sorts of manmade materials and technologies, the opportunity to enjoy truly natural, handcrafted articles, is fast becoming rare. We created a line of fashion jewelry that lets experience the looks of to-day, with the magnificence of natural handcrafted, exotic wood. Today’s fashion trends are putting together the concept of fashion-conscience to create awareness on environmental issues. Madera’s collection allows buyers to enjoy fashion with the luxury of a green con-science. We offer a green, handcrafted, upscale product, with a high perceived value, but we able to keep very

competitive prices. This allows us to offer our customers high margins opportunities.

Madera’s jewelry is designed by Maria Isabel Morillo and

Alexandra Pinto.

Together these two women, now sisters in law, have been able to have a successful

career, doing what they both love.
