2006 When I was a littleboy I used to sitin front of my

television set and watch astrange man from Tulsa,Oklahoma pray for the sick.I thought he was a rather des-perate man and we used tomake fun of him and imitatehim. God was in the view-ing of this man because laterI would find out he repre-sented the dreams and hopesof many people who are hun-gry for God. This paper is dedicatedto all of those people whohave the dream to see theentire gospel displayed onearth before Jesus comes. These men of God repre-sented in this paper were allthe people who took God onestep further to advance theKingdom of God. If youasked me who my favoriteswere I would tell you in aminute William J. Branhamand Kathryn Kulhman. Whydo I like these more than theothers, its because they re-vealed more of God and whathe could do when a man israised up to bear witness ofthe power of God. These pages represent alot of prayer and a lot of hope.Benny Hinn once said hopeis the attitude of faith. Wellwithin these pages is a lot of

hope. If you finished thesepages and read everythingthat there is in these pagesthen you would understandone thing. God always usesa man to perform His willupon the face of the earth.God is not in the business of

lifting up men but he is in thebusiness of using them. Thegifting of a William Branhamwas strange and unusual.Branham a poor boy fromKentucky knew he had a spe-cial purpose but he had totrust God to walk away fromhis security one day. He wasa meter reader in SouthernIndiana -- when he decidedto follow Jesus he was led byand angel. This angel stayedwith him all through his min-istry. He was there to coun-cil the great man of God dur-ing his toughest days. Hisson Billy saw the angel onenight and was afraid of whathe saw. I bet the memory ofthat perfect being was neverforgot by young BillyBranaham that night. Maybe you don’t knowthis but this newspaper wasfounded on a group of men

who saw two large angels atthe back of a church in Co-lumbus, Georgia. I will al-ways remember the day thatJohn Kilpatrick drove to

Mobile to speak at aminister’s meeting in 1991.Our newspaper had not evenbeen founded yet but afterhearing what he saw I neverforgot it. The testimony ofthe supernatural is just some-thing you don’t forget. Iwanted to start a paper sinceI was baptised in the HolyGhost in 1977 but the rightmoment had to come whenit was time to do it. It wasJohn Kilpatrick’s powerfultestimony that birthed thispaper. I never forget askinghim after the meeting, “Whatdid they look like.” I remem-ber the man of God telling methey were sparking heavenlybeings with all kinds of col-

ors radiating out from them.I can remember MaheshChavda telling me about theLord Jesus appearing at thefoot of his bed when he wasa bible student. He was ar-rayed in rainbow colors andhis glory stayed in the pres-ence of Chavda for most ofa Friday morning in Ft.Worth, Texas. Brothers andsisters these are the thingsthat build faith and give tous the heart of a Lion to makeus feel as if we can do any-thing. When you are readingthis I will be in Israel. Pleasepray for my family, I reallyfelt the need to go to thatHoly Land. I don’t knowwhat God is up to these daysbut I do know we will verysoon experience the Knowl-edge of the Glory of Godover the earth as the watersof the seas Hab . What everthe bible says, it will cometo pass. Please seek God’sface right now for my fam-ily we really pay a price forme traveling at times. It iseven more difficult as I writethis to you. I can see thecloths in the laundry roomthat she cannot get to. Prayfor Vivian she has really paida dear price for allowing herhusband to do this work thathas been directed by God.Give if you can, the need isgreat.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Idrove down the streetin Los Angeles to try

and find the location of 312Azusa Street, but it’s notthere anymore, but God’sblessing wasn’t initiallypoured out at the spot wherea parking lot is today, it waspoured out on another street.Bonnie Brae was where thepower of God was pouredout, but they call it today theAzusa Street Revival andevery modern work ofPentecost can be traced toLos Angeles, California. When God spoke to

Jacob, He opened up Heavenon a rock that was namedBethel. Scriptures says thatangels went up and downthat ladder and God was atthe top of the ladder in thatplace. The city where theinitial thrust of Pentecostwas a place named for theAngels of God by Catholicmissionaries as they plantedmissions up and down thecoast of California. Thename was spoken like aprophet through their ownvisions of the area. TheFathers established the SanGabriel Mission in the LosAngeles area and named itfor one of the most powerfulmessengers of God. Theoriginal hope was that themission would reach the

people of California with thegospel and while it did, Godhad other plans through thisarea to reach and entire worldwith signs and wonders. Hewould reach the world withthe experience of Pentecost in

a city named for the angels. What’s in a name -- the

William Seymourwould be the last one youwould ever had thought tobring a new move ofPentecost upon the worldstage. He knew aboutprejudice as in Houston heworked as a waiter and heardthe teachings of the Baptismin the Holy Spirit through aprejudice Methodist PreacherCharles Parham. It was onBonnie Brae Street where awomen had opened her houseup for the new teaching. TheSpirit did fall on thatSeptember day in 1906 andSeymour saw his work justbegin in a small room withonly a piano. A few peoplehelped establish God's ladderlike Bethel in Southern,California. During thisperiod of time twogreat men of faithwere being raised up.The first person wasa wealthy business-man from Chicago,Illinois. John G. Lakehad been very suc-cessful in the bankingbusiness but thepeople ofhisfamilywerebeingtouchedby sick-ness anddeath.Lakesearchedthescripturesabouthealingand wasled to theZionMovementjust aboveChicago. He wasamazed at the healingcoming from thisplace led by a man ofGod namedAlexander Dowie.Dowie believed inhealing power of Godbut did not believe inthe Baptism in theHoly Ghostexpedrience. WhileLake was a believerhe received thefullness of God with

the evidence ofspeaking in tongues. He was a seeker atthe early part of theAzusa Street Revivaland from that revivalhe was led as amissionary to Africawhere he establishedthe foundations ofPentecost in SouthAfrican. His wifedied while he was

Frus-trated he stopped bythe rectory to saygood-bye when he wastouched in a powerfulway after Boddy’swife ministered tohim. He had ahunger for thepower of God andhad saw manyhealings in thesmall housemeetings he washolding in Leeds,England but thepowerful infillingput him in an-other realm as aminister.

He had severalrecordings ofraising the deadin his 40 years ofministry. Raisingthe dead was only oneamazing facet of theministry of SmithWigglesworth. Thisgreat apostle of faithwalked in such anastounding measure ofGod's anointing thatthe miraculous follow-ing his ministry wasonly secondary to it. Inhis lifetime, this onetime plumber wouldgive new meaning tothe word "adventure."

"Only believe!" ToWigglesworth, simpleobedience to what onebelieved was not anextraordinary feat, butthe fruit of thatexpericne was. Hisown faith was said tobe unflinching andsometimes ruthless. But he was also said topossess an unusualteaching anointing anda keen sense of com-

passionate fruit ofwhich producedcountless salvationsand miracles in hisministry every day.The same powerWigglesworth walkedin is here for us today!(All the pictures yousee were taken byEditor Jerrell Miller inhis 1997 trip to Englandwith Cleddie Keith)

He isa classic example offaith who did morefor Pentecost in theearly days than anyother building block. He had always been asoul winner one onone but he was afraidof people when hegot up to preach.Revival broke out inSunderland, Englandafter FatherAlexander Boddy ofthe Episcopal Churchread about the ac-counts of revival inLos Angeles throughthe small PentecostalNewspaper TheApostolic Faith thatwas sent around theworld. He traveled toLos Angeles by goingaround SouthAmerica in a ship andreturned to breakPentecostal Revivalin England. It wouldbe at this revival thata legend of Pentecostwould be birthed. try, begged others topreach in his placebecause of shyness. Hewas so hungry to speakin other tongues, that hedisrupted a service andthe minister three timesand was escorted out bythe ushers. When hedid speak in othertongues, he interruptedthe minister again, tookover the pulpit, and 50people were baptized inthe Holy Spirit as hepreached. The next day,the newspapers wrote afront page account of thestory! He died at age 86in 1947 but the truth ofwho he was and what herepresented was anexample for those whowould follow in hisfootsteps. Wigglesworthintroduced the Baptism inthe Holy Ghost to NewZealand and his legendgrows greater as the daysgo on..

The greatest failure ofThe Azusa Street Revivalwas that it did not changethe racial situation in thechurch. God used a oneeyed black evangelist tochange the church throughthe power of God but thechurch remained in itsracial makeup and is stillthat way today. Thegreatest failure of theAzusa Street Revival wasthat it did not join theraces in common belief, itremained segregated thenext move will be with thesegregated heart.

LOS ANGELES, CA --With a flair for

the dramatic whichappealed to themovie capital ofAmerica in theglamorous ‘roaringtwenties’, AimeeSemple McPhersonprovided the bestshow in town. Andwith her emphasis ondivine healing —many outstandingmiracles werereported under herministry — it wasn’tsurprising that shedrew the crowds. People stood inline for hours hopingfor admission to the5,300-seater AngelesTemple where herillustrated sermonsheld audiencesspellbound. Fromrelatively simplebeginnings, such aswhen she dressed asLittle Bo Peep(seeking lost sheep),they grew to spec-tacular productionsinvolving the use ofelaborate sets andfull orchestras.Having once beenstopped by thepolice for speeding, she appeared in theTemple on a motor-bike dressed in apolice uniform, warning her hearersto stop speedingdown the road tohell! And on a nightshe announced a newillustrated sermon, the city providedadditional trolleycars and police tocontrol traffic. Aimee SempleMcPherson wasundoubtedly themost prominentwoman leaderPentecostalism hasproduced. A strik-ingly beautifulwoman, she was acolorful and, at

times, controversialfigure who won thehearts of a wholegeneration of Ameri-can Christians. EssentiallyPentecostal, preach-ing the ‘Four SquareGospel’ of Jesus asSavior,Healer,Baptize, and Com-ing King, she never-thelessappealed toChristiansacross theboard. At atime whenPentecostalismwas indanger ofbecomingnarrow and separatist,Aimee used thepopular idioms of theday to communicatethe gospel and, in anera devoted to vaude-ville, caught thepublic imagination. She was way aheadof her time and alsomade extensive useof writing and broad-casting. In1917 she launched‘The Bridal Call’, amonthly magazine inwhich she wrotemany articles ex-pounding the essenceof her teaching. UnfortunatelyAimee’s success

Knownsimply as ‘Sister’ toher many followers, she showed not onlyformidable oratory inthe pulpit but a deepcompassion forpeople in all walks oflife. She would goanywhere — night-

clubs, theatres, dancehalls, jails and evenbrothels — to tellpeople of the Savior. There was no pleading,no fire and brimstone,no criticizing — just awarmhearted welcomefrom a woman whocared. Believing thatpeople who mostneeded the gospel werenot likely to be found inchurch, she visited red-light districts where shehugged, cried andprayed with the women. Settling in LosAngeles, Aimeefounded the Interna-tional Church of theFoursquare Gospel andthe Angeles Temple wasdedicated in 1923. But in fact she hadbeen kidnapped in Mexico andsuch was the relief at having herback that 50,000 people linedthe streets to welcome her onher return to Los Angeles. Nevertheless Aimee and hermother were charged withperjury and ridiculed from

Believe it or not thesame buildings are inthe same places as itwas more than 101years ago. The onlything that has changedin Wales are the heartsof the people that livethere. It’s hard tobelieve that a countrywho once loved Jesushas only a shadow ofthat belief in placetoday.

Robert’s father wasa coal miner and a

one end of Wales to theother and then disap-peared. Roberts knew thatthe actions that werehappening at the time ofthe greater events in Waleswere those of the HolySpirit but what he didn’tknow were the time limitsof his body after theanointing would leave attimes. These were timeswhen he withdrew andlike many evangelist toproceed him they wouldalso find out that therelease of the Spiritthrough them would notbe the power they wouldfind in the quite timesaway from the pulpit. But let us look at whathappened during the timeof the great event of thatrevival. Under the preach-ing of Evan Roberts theawareness and the pres-ence of the Holy Spiritbecame evident. Godmoved through him as hecame out from behind thepulpit and walked up indown in the aisles preach-ing a sinners conviction. It

was unheard of for apreacher to do that butunder the presence of theHoly Spirit, Robertsbrought greatness intochurch meetings. God’spresence and the power ofthe Holy Spirit began tothe meetings as he becameone of the most influentialmen of his time. Churchwas no longer an obliga-tion but it became anexperience, much likewhat has been experiencedin meetings in the rivermove of God today. AsEvan came to differentmeetings the people ofWales would follow himand some small communi-ties would see theirchurches unusually over-flowing with people. Thecall to the nations beganas the witness of what hadhappened in Wales beganto go out. People began tocome to Wales from SouthAfrica, India, The UnitedStates and Canada to seethe great work of God inprogress. It was all aneducation that would soonopen a larger door toPentecost. CaliforniaEvangelist and Journalist,

Frank Bartleman wrote toRoberts. Bartleman askedhow to bring revival to theUnited States. It was nextyear in 1906 thatBartleman would begin toreport on the move of Godat Azusa Street. Newspapers pumpedthe message of Roberts tothe public. Bars andsporting events began toclose down as the fire gotlarger. It seemed as if theyoung Evangelist EvanRoberts could do nowrong as the entire coun-try of Wales was on fire. What caused the flameof revival to return to ashin Wales. The power ofGod was real and the manwith the mantle stirred thepeople but the one thingEvan Roberts forgot to dowas rest. Roberts wouldpreach for long periods oftime but depression beganto set in during his periodsof time. His anointing wasa full blessing and hisintercessors backed himup during this time, butwhat was needed mostduring these times wasrest. Evan Roberts died

He died in ahead on collision in thedesert of the southwest. He was involved in thedarkest part of himministry at the time. Many could not under-stand why Branham inthe later days of hisministry began to moveaway from the call ofhealing on his life. Hebegan to teach manydoctrinal errors outsideof the bible. GordonLindsey remarked thatGod took WilliamBranham before histime because of theerrors he was teachingbefore the body ofChrist. Branham wasunique in signs andwonders and healingsand there hasn’t beenanything like him in the

healing ministry sincehis death. There arethose who came after himsuch as KathrynKulhman, Oral Roberts,Jack Coe, and A.A. tional calling of what theywere called to do and thatwas the supernatural.Springfield would neveragain endorse his ministrywhile he was alive. Eventhough he spoke the truthit was a door that theAssemblies of God chosenot to go through. Another man called byGod in the healing minis-try was A. A. Allen. Some of the things thatcame through thehands of thishealing evange-lists are stilltalked abouttoday. R. W.Schambachtold the storyof a little boythat wasbrought by hismother from Chatta-nooga to be healed in atent meeting in Birming-ham, Alabama. He was sodeformed and unable towalk or see. His motherlayed him out for theevangelist to pray for him. When Allen began hisprayer over this child histongue which was hang-ing out of his head imme-diately went inside. Twoeyes were created in hishead that where not therebefore. People in in thequietness of the large tentcould hear the bonescracking and popping into

place. God transformedthis small boy who couldnot walk back into a normalchild. More than 26 ill-nesses were healed rightbefore the people’s eyes. The power of this miraclewas go great that it ignited afire in that tent whereseveral people came toChrist and severalterminal illnesses werehealed that week. One thingabout

thesehealers thatGod had calledforth in this age, they were notperfect. Religionattacked A. A.Allen severaltimes. Allen grewup in a house ofalcoholics andmany people knewAllen had a prob-lem with alcohol-ism. When he diedin San Francisco

the coroner ruled that hedied from acute alcoholism. While the evidence might

have been to validate hisdisease the evidence wasalso there that this manhad many signs andwonders of divinehealing in his testi-mony that wasattributed to thepowerful ministry

he had while hewas alive.

One

ofthe last

healer we willspeak about isOral Roberts.Roberts grewup in this timeperiod alsoand was acontemporaryof these menbut Robertswas called toseveralministriesduring his

time of ministry.Roberts wasmuch like JackCoe and A. A.Allen butRoberts’ minis-try stretched intothe 60s, 70’s andinto the newcentury. Hestarted like theothers did as an offspring of Branhambut he had a per-sonal knowledge

that the

others didn’thave. He was

healed in a tent meet-ing of tuberculosis and

felt the call to deliver thehealing power of God tothis generation. He was somoved by the healingministry that he establisheda university in Tulsa,Oklahoma and name it OralRobert’s University. ThisUniversity was built aroundthe healing power of Godand was built to take thatpower around the world.Billy Graham dedicatedOral Robert’s University, onthe day they dedicated theschool a man heard some-one say this, “We were

outside the Timko-Bartonbuilding and Billy Grahamstepped up to the micro-phone and said, ‘Goodafternoon,’ and commentedthat it looked as if it wasgoing to rain. Just thensomeone said, ‘You know, the Lord wouldn’t dare let itrain with Oral Roberts andBilly Graham on theplatform at the same time.’”This was door opened thatwould never close as peoplelike Benny Hinn took themantle up long after thesewere no longer involved.

The CarismaticsThe Charismatic

movement inthe sixties and the

seventies was like no othermove of God. Each step ofPentecost has had its ownunique characteristics. One man did more duringthis time than any otherperson. Demos Shakarianbecame a facilitator of theHoly Ghost. He was thefounder of the Full GospelBusinessman’s FellowshipInternational. During thesixties these small groupsof men met at hotelsaround the country tointroduce men to thefullness of the Holy Spirit. It was a unique setting

away from the church. Many of the businessmenwho attended these meet-ings were already saved intheir denominationalchurch but in these set-tings hundreds and thou-sands of individualsreceived the Pentecostalinfilling of the HolyGhost with speaking intongues. The most un-usual thing about theseevents was that it intro-duced the Baptism in theHoly Ghost into severalareas of fundamental faithwhere people were notfriendly to that type ofdoctrine filled with theSpirit of God. During thistime there was a civil warof the new doctrine inBaptist, Presbyterian andCatholic Churches. Thepeople in charge of thesedenominations very oftenfound themselves on theoutside looking at whatwas hap- pening to their

churches.Thepastorswho

re-ceived the

Baptism inthese churches

during this time hadtwo options, they

could either take theentire church into this

move or completelyseparate from their funda-mental doctrine and startand independent workcalled a CharismaticFellowships. Manypeople who left theirfundamental churchescaped into the olderestablished Pentecostaldenominations -- theAssemblies of God and theChurch of God receivedthe bounty of this move ofGod. The older lineAssemblies and Church ofGod’s were in their thirdgeneration of Pentecostand the fire for the

It just didn’tend with this man as herfame as a healer spreadher meetings grew larger. She started with a radioprogram in Oil City,Pennsylvanian and grew

until she could hold nomore people in her build-ing. She moved to Pitts-burgh, Pennsylvania andheld meetings at thePresbyterian Church indowntown Pittsburgh. Her meetings werepowerful with a full choirsinging the HallelujahChores. The glory wouldbegin to fall and under thedirection of the HolyGhost people were healedof cancers, blindness, heart disease and severalother illnesses. She wasattacked by the media andreligious churchmen who

Demos Shakarian wasthe secret agent of theHoly Ghost, he set thetable for more to receive.Eleven months afterDemos Shakarian startedthe Full Gospel BusinessMen’s FellowshipInterntaional 34 years agohe was ready to give it up.After a three and one-halfhour prayer , he had avision from God. His wifeinterpreted the vision andalso the words he washearing from God.Shakarian, in Denver for aregional meeting of the

Fellowship, said in aninterview that the visionshowed him men of allnations being spirituallyawakened. There were othersduring this time whocrossed the lines of Pente-cost to go into the otherdenominations. One ofthe most fascinatingindividuals of the 1970’swas Kathryn Kulhmanwho was in a class of herown. She was a fierywomen evangelist fromMissouri who rocked thedenominations during theCharismatic movement.

claimed her to be a fakebut the evidence of herhealings during servicetime was just too much forthem to handle. Oneyoung boy who was in thelast stages of a cancerousbrain tumor was instantlyhealed at the PresbyterianChurch in Pittsburgh.Billy Burke was the boythat was healed. He is

activelyin minis-try todayand has achurch inTampa,Florida.Anothermemo-rablehealingwas theFireChief ofHouston,

Texas. He came to LosAngeles in the last stagesof cancer and was pointedout in the upper deck ofthe Shrine Auditorium inLos Angeles, California. As the gentleman stood uphe felt a burn go from hishead to his toes and wascompletely healed in aninstant. These were thefascinating miracles thatmarked her ministry whichlasted until KathrynKuhlman died on February20, 1976. Oral Robertswas sitting by the side ofher bed when she passed.

Known as the“Father of themodern Faith

Movement,” Kenneth E.Hagin Sr., founder ofBroken Arrow, Oklahomabased Rhema BibleTraining Center, died atage 86. We were sitting inan auditorium ready for aservice when the newscame that the father of theFaith Movement haddied. He was a part ofthe Charismatic Move-ment that caused muchcontroversy on the sub-ject that causes moretrouble in the body ofChrist than manifesta-tions of the Holy Ghost. Kennth Hagen Sr.taught the doctrine ofwhat many people called

The Faith Movement“Name it and claim ittheology,” but KennethHagen Sr. gave more tothe body of Christ than heever took away. “I remember KennethHagen, Sr. when he wasgoing around Houston,Texas with just a few

sermons as an evangelist topreach,” said CleddieKeith of Heritage Fellow-ship. He came from nowhere to move a group ofpeople with power todemonstrate that God canout give the believers. There was a joke at theOral Roberts University astwo groups of people werein the same car. In thefront seat driving the carwere three ORU students

and in the back were threeRhema Bible Institutestudents. The car wasrunning out of gas andboth groups were callingout to God. The ORUstudents were saying, “OhGod have mercy on us andhelp us get there,” while

the Rhema Students hadcomplete confidence onthe situation and said, “Weare there.” The one thingthat bothered denomationalpeople and someCharismatics were thepeople of faith that startedcorrecting everyoneslanguage. It was a realshooten war but most ofwhat Dad Hagen wasteaching was a refreshingto the body of Christ. He

taught on excellence ofgiving and that God’swork should be fundedand not taken a secondplace to anything in theworld. Hagen taught thepriciples of giving and itwas a direct off shoot ofwhat Oral Roberts started

teaching in the earlysixties “Seed Faith,” tobuild a great University inTulsa. People startedcalling the dustry oil townof Tulsa, Tulsarusalem. This is where the fathersof faith movement livedand you better watch yourlanguage around them, and brother I’m not

carries the torch today onthe teaching of Faith to thebody of Christ. Theoutstanding charisteristicof all these men are thatthey are givers them-selves. KennethCopleland today sponsors

and builds medical facili-ties all over the world withthe contribution of hispeople. Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne makes no bonesabout it. He believes thatGod’s work comes with anincreased blessing whenthe believer receives therevelation of giving. Itmust be noted that thisstarted early in theHoward-Browne ministryas he was a student atRhema Bible Institue inSouth Africa before hecame to America. One other great man offaith and their have beenseveral who have movedin this powerful off-shootof the Charismatic Move-ment was Creflo Dollarfrom College Park, Geor-gia. He has been a bless-ing and personal encour-agement to The Remnantand his faith teachingshave helped in a wholegeneration of believersaccomplish their mission. The Faith Movement wasabsolutely necessary in thelast 30 years to change theoutlook of giving in the

Anyone who received the Baptism in the Holy Ghost in the sixtiesimmediately became friends with the AM Radio stations of that day

who carried all the national evangelists. One particular Evangelistwas R. W. Schambach who had more influence through the AM Radiothan any other evangelist during that golden day of radio. He preached

with a black man’s voice and he was considered a Charismaticand a hold over from the early faith healers of the 50’s but

he was a leader in the area of evangelism and radio. Hewas unusual in the fact that his followers were a mix-ture of black and white believers. He was a hold overfrom the man he originally served A. A. Allen. Thesetwo men knew no distinction of race while they pro-vided a place where all believers could come and behealed and receive salvation and the Baptism in theHoly Ghost. He has planted the seed of belief inmore people in our generation of Pentecost thanany other person alive today. R. W. Schambachwas an institution.
